As we continue to modernize our operations -including a company-wide ERP transformation -we are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to strengthen our finance function and support our growth.

Position Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager who can both perform day-to-day accounting work and lead the accounting team. This is not a purely supervisory role -the ideal candidate is comfortable working directly in the books (journal entries, reconciliations, reporting) while also guiding, reviewing, and developing the team's work. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and support management with timely financial insights, working closely with senior management on budgeting, compliance, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

•        Personally handle day-to-day accounting tasks -journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable -alongside overseeing the full accounting cycle and month-end/year-end closing

•        Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports

•        Lead, supervise, and mentor the accounting team, reviewing their work and ensuring quality and accountability

•        Develop and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and procurement/payment workflows

•        Manage cash flow planning, budgeting, and forecasting

•        Ensure accurate accounting treatment for fixed assets, consumables, staff receivables, and other specialized transactions

•        Support and drive adoption of the company's ERP system (Odoo) across accounting and finance workflows

•        Coordinate with auditors, regulators, and external stakeholders as needed

•        Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency

Qualifications & Experience

•        Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is an advantage)

•        Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1 years in a supervisory or managerial role

•        Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls

•        Experience with ERP systems (Odoo experience strongly preferred) is a significant advantage

•        Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

•        Strong leadership and team management abilities

•        High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure

•        Fluency in Somali and English (written and spoken)

•        Experience in the utilities, energy, or service-based sector is a plus
