ACTED is looking for professionally confident, self-motivated, experienced, and committed team player to fill the Logistics Intern position to be based in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Provide support to the logistics department in Mogadishu Somalia with a primary focus on premises maintenance, inventory and Transport & procurement support A/B & FWA to ensure smooth operational activities and task as per assigned his Line manager.
OBJECTIVES
Ensure proper maintenance of office and guesthouse premises
Support in office procurement at Mogadishu level
FUNCTIONS/ MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conduct regular inspections of office, guesthouse, and warehouse premises to identify maintenance needs and report issues promptly.
2. Coordinate with maintenance service providers for repairs, cleaning, and upkeep of facilities, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
3. Monitor utilities (water, electricity, internet) and ensure uninterrupted services; report outages and follow up on restoration.
4. Maintain an updated schedule for preventive maintenance of premises and equipment (generators, air conditioners, plumbing).
5. Assist in planning and organizing staff transportation, including booking vehicles, assigning drivers, and preparing movement plans.
6. Track vehicle movements daily, maintain accurate logbooks, and ensure compliance with organizational transport policies.
7. Support fuel management by monitoring consumption, verifying fuel requests, and reconciling fuel usage reports.
8. Assist in inventory management for premises supplies (cleaning materials, maintenance tools) and ensure timely replenishment.
9. Preparation Mogadishu office support procurements files, archive, submisison to finance
10. Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports on premises maintenance activities and transport operations to the Logistics Manager
11. Ensure compliance with safety and security standards in all premises and during transportation activities.
12. Liaise with procurement team for sourcing maintenance materials and transport-related services as per organizational procedures.
13. Provide administrative support such as filing maintenance records, updating transport schedules, and assisting in audits.
14. Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and coordinate quick solutions to minimize operational disruptions.
15. Participate in team meetings and contribute to planning improvements for logistics operations
Skills and qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
§ Bachelor’s degree in related education
§ Basic knowledge of logistics and facility management
§ Fluent English
§ Good organizational and communication skills
§ Ability to use MS Office (Excel, Word)
§ Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
