FIELD COORDINATOR (S) (2 POSITIONS) - 1 YEAR CONTRACT EMPLOYMENT TERM: REGULAR
POSITION LOCATION: MOGADISHU (WITH FREQUENT TRAVEL TO REGIONS,
DISTRICTS)

Scope Of Work:
The Field Coordinator will be responsible to assist Education Coordinator and the Deputy Chief of Party Implementation and Operation and other project team members in implementing the BAB project work plan across the project target districts of implementation. Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief of Party Implementation and Operation with daily guidance from the Education Coordinator, the Field Coordinator will work closely with BAB implementation, technical and MERL teams as well as other implementing partners and MoE officials at the regional/district levels to plan and implement project activities with focus on community engagement activities, district and schools capacity building efforts, including capacity assessments of target schools and teachers, providing technical oversight to ensure quality implementation of activities, data collection, leading the enrolment drive, students/teachers identification, verification and preparations for various capacity building events. The major responsibilities including but not limited to the followings:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the overall implementation of BAB work plan activities in the region by managing and supervising field staff including Implementation and Technical Officers, and Logistic and Operations Assistants.
- Lead the orientation process of the project for MOE staff at the regional and district levels.
- Coordinate the process of capacity building efforts at region/district levels based on the guidance of DCOP-Implementation /Operation and Education Coordinator.
- Liaise with DEOs, REOs, Implementing partners (if any) and other stockholders on all program aspects under guidance from his/her district supervisor.
- With support from the Technical Officers lead the capacity building efforts including ToTs, Teacher Trainings and other events.
- Lead and Supervisor the implementation and operations relevant activities at both district and regional levels in close coordination with the relevant supervisor and concerned program support units.
- Maintain effective working relations with DEOs, REOs, Headteachers and involved stockholders in all program’s relevant activities on appropriate manners.
- Work closely with BAB Grantees, monitor the implementation of Grants and provide necessary technical assistance when necessary.
- Work closely with Community Education Committees (CECs) on program implementation and schools’ management related areas.
- Update the Senior Management Team regarding progress of work regularly; and
- Any other task assigned by the management and direct supervisor.
- Act as a Security Focal Point (SFP) for the project in the regions. Collect and disseminate security information as required. Work closely, coordinate, and liaise with stakeholders on security matters. Networking with security actors in the region and perform ad hoc security tasks under direction of the Project Security Officer (PSO). Maintain a close working relationship with the PSO.
Reporting & Supervision: The Field Coordinator will report to the Deputy Chief of Party Implementation and Operation and have line management with the Education Coordinator.
Skills and qualifications
- Master`s/ Bachelor’s degree of Education, BA Social Studies, BA Economics, Business Administration, social science, development studies, or related field.
- At least five (5) year of experience in Education with minimum of 2 years’ experience specific to Education Interventions’ implementation in the field.
- Must have previous experience of capacity building of teachers and community education committees.
- Must be familiar with Somalia education system and how schools’ function in Somalia.
- Must have previous experience of leading the implementation of funded interventions in the target regions/districts of BAB.
- Knowledge of current national and international strategies on access, equity, and quality education policies and models.
- Have previous work with governmental institution (particularly education sector)
- Ability to write quality narrative reports and any other document as per the project requirements.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be able to engage positively and productively with a diverse population of team members, stakeholder and government counterparts.
- Must have a valid Somali passport, or at least valid Somali national ID card.
- Must be willing to travel to the project target locations/ remote areas.
