Background
Somali-Sudanese Specialized Hospital is a General Hospital, funded by Somali business elites to meet the needs of Somali people in health care services. it has been providing health care services in Somalia since 2014. The headquarter of the hospital is at Hodan district, whereby the hospital runs four branches in the other districts in Mogadishu. The hospital covered almost a huge gap in the health care sector in Somalia, that many Somali citizens needed to go abroad for healthcare needs. The hospital absorbs and employs both qualified Somalis and expats of different nationalities.
About the role
As a pharmacist, you will be responsible for dispensing medications, providing pharmaceutical care, and ensuring the safe and effective use of medications by patients. You will collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize drug therapy and educate patients on medication-related topics.
Duties and responsibilities:
ü Accurately and safely dispense prescription medications.
ü Verify prescription information and dosage instructions.
ü Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
ü Provide counseling to patients on the proper use of medications.
ü Address patient questions and concerns about medications.
ü Educate patients on potential side effects and interactions.
ü Collaborate with healthcare providers to review and optimize medication therapy.
ü Monitor patient medication regimens for efficacy and safety.
ü Adjust medication doses as needed, in consultation with healthcare providers.
ü Stay informed about new medications and drug therapies.
ü Provide accurate and up-to-date drug information to healthcare professionals and patients.
ü Prepare and compound medications when necessary.
ü Ensure the proper mixing, packaging, and labeling of compounded medications.
ü Maintain accurate and complete patient records.
ü Implement and adhere to quality assurance and safety protocols.
ü Participate in medication error prevention and reporting.
ü Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
ü Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.
Skills and qualifications
Education and skill requirements:
Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or related field is required.
4 years of experience in pharmacy.
Good team working skills.
Interpersonal skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities.
Ability to work with all levels of company staff.
