About Hodmas University College:

Hodmas University College is a pioneering institution in South and Central Somalia, dedicated to providing high-quality education and fostering academic excellence. As the first female-led institution in the Somalia (excluding Somaliland), Hodmas University College has grown over its three-year history and is on the verge of graduating its first cohort of students. With three faculties and over 15 schools under them, Hodmas University College is committed to research, innovation, and building a solid institutional foundation. We are seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the Rector.

Job Summary:

The Rector will report to the Founder and President and to the Board of Directors. The Rector is responsible for providing visionary leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for all academic, administrative, and operational functions of the institution. This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring Hodmas University College's continued growth, academic excellence, research, innovation, and the establishment of a strong institutional framework.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

•       Lead the development and implementation of a long-term academic vision that aligns with the college's mission, focusing on research, innovation, and academic excellence.

•       Promote a culture of research and innovation.

•       Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and research among faculty and students.

•       Oversee the establishment and growth of research and innovation centers within the college.

•       Foster a culture of research excellence and innovation by providing necessary resources and support.

•       Encourage faculty and students to engage in cutting-edge research and innovative projects.

•       Oversee day-to-day operations, financial management, and resource allocation, ensuring the college's financial sustainability and growth.

•       Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.

•       Collaborate with senior administrators to facilitate effective decision-making and problem-solving.

•       Build and maintain strong relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the local community.

•       Represent the college to external stakeholders, including government agencies, donors, and partners.

•       Seek opportunities to engage with and contribute to the local community's development.

•       Lead efforts to establish collaborations with international institutions, fostering global partnerships and exchange programs.

•       Promote research and academic collaborations on a global scale, enhancing the college's reputation and impact.

•       Provide strategic leadership in building a robust institutional framework for Hodmas University College.

•       Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the institution.

Skills and Qualifications:

•       Degrees in higher education management or equivalent and/or in a relevant field.

•       Proven leadership experience in academia or a related field.

•       Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

•       Demonstrated ability for visionary and strategic thinking.

•       Proficiency in financial management and resource allocation.

•       Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

•       Experience in fundraising, partnership development, and institution building.
