ASSISTANT DRUG STORE KEEPER, MOGADISHU, SOMALIA

YouthLink Somalia is a local humanitarian NGO operation in South and Central Somalia. YouthLink works to enable the poor and vulnerable communities to improve livelihoods and build their resilience through long term development including health and nutrition live saving programmes.

1.        Position Information

Position Title: Assistant /Store Keeper

Duty Station: Mogadishu, Somalia

Reporting Directly To: Health and Nutrition Officer

Over all supervision by:  Health and Nutrition Coordinator

Managerial Responsibility: None

Duration: 3 Months with possible extension

Directly Reporting Staff: Assigned qualified HF’s distribution officers  

2.        Organisational Context and Scope

For increasing access to Health and Nutrition, YouthLink works in urban IDPs in Banadir region through the provision of Mobile health and Nutrition services that include treatment of SAM, essential maternal and child health services in Partnership with Concern Worldwide funded by Irish AId. 

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Health and Nutrition Officer, The Assistant Pharma Store Keeper is responsible for overall medical supplies, drug consumption and distribution to the health facilities of the YouthLink supported Mobile Clinics in Banadir region. This Position will be based in YouthLink Mogadishu office, with frequent visits and spending time at mobile clinic sites to provide oversight to the day-to-day activities and needs.

Main Duties &

Responsibilities:

·      The pharmacy assistant is responsible for safe and proper storage and supply of medicine, RUTF and medical equipment’s for the entire health facilities.

·      Responsible for supervision and monitoring of the pharmaceutical activities in HFs on behalf of the project Coordinator & officer.

·      Processing supply needs for health facilities and match according to the stock verifies and request according to the monthly supply needs before.

·      Responsible to distribute supplies and monitors the drug consumptions to the health facilities.

·      Responsible to ensure the safe and proper storage and use of medicine in the store.

·      Restocking shelves with medications and other pharmaceutical supplies.

·      Closely work with the donor health logistic section receive the GDN of the supply, documentation, and hand over all medicine supply, medical equipment’s and priory check for their accuracy.

·      Identify and report error/problems that interferes the delivery of services

·      Ensure safe clean and proper storage of all medicine and other medical equipment’s within the store.

·      Maintain update inventory / stock cards.

·      Prepare and submit weekly/monthly activity report to the health and nutrition officer

·      Take care of medical supplies according to standards

·      Recording of medical supply in stock cards

·      Inventory of stock on regular basis & recording of its result in stock cards

·      Monitoring of medical supply quality & expiration date.

·      Checking of stock cards accuracy regularly, designing of stock according to standards

·      Prevention of supply spoilage by internal & external factors

·      Especial care of those medicines need especial condition like vaccines high price medicines & drugs with low flash point.

·      Make sure assigned drug distribution officer of HFs report near are accurate and efficient as per donor required

·      Understanding of minimum maximum stock level, and monthly consumption of medicine.

·      Regular checking of stock compound & reporting of missed issues; proper arrangement of supply in stock, and maintain in and out of the store with proper documentation and collection of supply requests received from HFs

·      Ensure optimum temperature and maintain documentation in the store.

·      Any other duties as required during the implementation of the programme

·      Keep the Health and Nutrition Programme Coordinator informed of all Programme activities and challenges that may arise in the centers/areas of operation.

Skills and qualifications

Graduated from faculty of Pharmacy or Public Health, or Nurse Minimum of three years of experiences in the relevant field and health logistics.

·         Strong knowledge of health logistics and distributions.

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills

·         Good knowledge of emergency humanitarian context,

·         Good knowledge of computer and English language
