Himilo Organization for Development (HOD) is non-profit making, non-sectarian, humanitarian relief and development organization that was founded 2010 as a local non-governmental organization (LNGO) in Somalia. HOD operates in Juba land, Galmudug and Puntland state of Somalia. Its top priority is to create an environment that is conductive to sustainable development by helping communities to secure peace, sustainable development and attain self-reliance

POSITION SUMMARY

Partnership manager will be responsible for maximizing the organization funding portfolio by

-          By Developing strong, clear and concise fundraising strategies for the organization.

-          Continuous monitoring of the organization funding requirement and identifying new donors

-          Representing the organization in high profile meetings

-          The duty station will be in Nairobi, with frequent visits to Somalia.

-          Female candidate with the above skills and competence may be given priority

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-          Researching and identifying new grant opportunities and consequently summarize relevant grant opportunities and suggest how best to respond and comply with them. This will also include expanding the organizations’ donor networks and assisting in identifying potential donors the organization can work with;

-          Monitors and attends meetings of external funding agencies, providing information and insight to the management regarding relevant developments; represents HOD at external donor meetings

-          Develop, maintain and update donors contact information

-          Ensure compliance with donor regulations and HOD policies within the projects. This shall be in coordination with the Executive Director, where you shall be expected to perform periodic reviews in order to review compliance with grant requirements and HOD/Donor regulations, so as to detect and resolve implementation problems

-          Ensure effective coordination, communication, and collaboration is established and maintained across HOD and within the stakeholders for the effective and efficient financial management of grants and programs fully compliant with HOD internal control procedures and national policies/regulations.

Skills and qualifications

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

·         Project management experience; experience in all aspects of donor cycle

  • Preparing clear and concise grant reports, presentations, internal guidance, and other materials
  • Developing, organizing, and maintaining accurate grant records
  • Drafting compelling grant applications that meet the grant guidelines and requirements

·         Experience in budget analysis and cost controls in development projects

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially with Excel and word

·         Ability to multitask and work independently and collaboratively to meet weekly, monthly, and quarterly deadlines

·         Ability to prepare presentations and reports

·         Strong writing and editing skills

·         Communicating clearly, concisely, and coherently, both orally and in writing; possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills

·         Initiative, coordination and organizational skills

·         Ability to network and maintain close communication with peers and colleagues in similar or related types of jobs in similar organizations

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

·         Possess a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to various situations

A Bachelor’s Degree in communication, international development, public relation or any other related qualification is required.  Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of professional work experience, with some knowledge or background in nonprofits or grant making and Knowledge of the Somali working context and general communities is an advantage.
