Job description
POSITION: COMMUNICATION, MEDIA AND BRANDING OFFICER
ADVERT NO MARDO/001/02/2026
LOCATION: BAIDOA SOMALIA
MARDO is a local Non-Governmental Organization based in South-West State of Somalia providing
life-saving interventions to address humanitarian needs. The main areas of operation include FoodSecurity, Agriculture/Livelihood, Health, Nutrition, Water/sanitation and Hygiene promotion and
continue to focus on similar priority area such as Education Child protection and emergency projects in
the area of the Bay and Bakool Regions of southwest state of Somalia.
MARDO is currently seeking a skilled and experienced COMMUNICATION, MEDIA AND
BRANDING OFFICER to join our team inBaidoa, Somalia. The Communications, Media and Branding
Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, managing
organizational branding, producing multimedia content, and strengthening the organization’s digital and
public presence. The role will ensure consistent messaging, proper donor visibility, and high-quality
documentation of program achievements.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Communication and Visibility
a) Develop and implement internal and external communication plans.
b) Prepare communication materials including press releases, newsletters, briefs, and fact
sheets.
c) Ensure donor visibility requirements are met across all project activities.
d) Support preparation of presentations, speeches, and organizational profiles.
2. Branding and Graphic Design
a) Ensure consistent use of organizational and donor branding guidelines.
b) Design communication and visibility materials such as Banners and posters; Brochures
and flyers; Reports and presentations; Social media graphics
c) Monitor proper logo usage across all materials.
3. Video Production and Multimedia
a) Capture field activities through photography and videography.
b) Produce and edit high-quality videos, including: Project documentaries; Success stories;
Social media reels and short clips; Promotional and awareness videos
c) Add subtitles, voiceovers, and branding elements to multimedia content.
4. Web and Digital Content Management
a) Manage and regularly update the organization’s website.
b) Upload news, reports, stories, and project updates using CMS platforms (WordPress or
similar).
c) Optimize web content for search engines (SEO).
d) Ensure website content is accurate, updated, and user-friendly.
5. Social Media Management
a) Develop and implement social media content calendars.
b) Create and publish engaging posts across platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter,
Instagram, YouTube).
c) Monitor engagement and analyze performance using analytics tools.
d) Respond to messages and maintain a professional online presence.
6. Documentation and Knowledge Management
a) Develop human-interest stories, case studies, and success stories.
b) Support program teams in documenting project outputs and outcomes.
c) Maintain an organized archive of photos, videos, and communication materials.
7. Media and Public Relations
a) Liaise with local media and partners.
b) Support organization of events, campaigns, and media coverage.
c) Prepare media kits and briefing materials when required.
Skills and qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
i. Excellent writing and editing skills in English (Somali is an asset).
ii. Strong content development skills for reports, web, and social media.
iii. Professional video editing skills using tools such as: Adobe Premiere Pro; Final Cut and
CapCut / Filmora or similar
iv. Photography and videography skills for field documentation.
v. Ability to produce short documentaries, promotional videos, and social media content.
vi. Strong web content management skills (WordPress, Joomla, or similar CMS).
vii. Knowledge of SEO and digital content optimization.
viii. Graphic design skills using Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar tools.
ix. Experience managing multiple social media platforms.
x. Understanding of branding, donor visibility, and communication standards.
xi. Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS is an added advantage.
xii. Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
xiii. Creative thinking, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
xiv. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
