MSF is an independent humanitarian medical organization providing emergency medical aid to populationsinneed. MSF Somalia mission is seeking a qualified person for the position below:

Job Title: PSYCHOLOGIST– STAFF CARE CONSULTANT

Work Location: SOMALIA _BAIDOA AND MUDUG PROJECTS (1 visit per quarter of about a weekandhourly remote Psychologist at a fixed rate on a need basis in between visits to Somalia)

Start date: AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Length of contract : ONE YEAR (with possible extension) 

Main Purpose:

Providing psychological support to MSF & MOH staff according to MSF principles, standards andprocedures in order to improve the staff mental health.

Accountabilities

Increase the understanding of psychosocial care of staff, managers and leaders within the organization (stress definition, reactions, consequences, confidentiality, identification of troubled or at-risk people)

Assisting and training staff members and resourceful people whenever necessary in order to promote psychosocial services and contribute to fighting against MH stigma

Responding to individual requests and organizing group psycho support sessions.

Carrying out evaluation of mental health needs of staff, establishing a diagnosis and creating a plan of treatment.

Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, group) to staff according to MSF protocols in order to improve their mental health conditions.

Collecting statistical and monitoring data about psychological support activities and produce regular and ad hoc reports according to MSF standards.

Informing the PSU coordinator and the medical coordinator about any issues that may arise related to staff treatment and/or staff behavior-suffering that may be work-related in order to provide the best possible solution from a medical perspective.

Ensuring that all staff information is kept confidential.

Support the teams in case of critical incidents under the directives and supervision of the PSU with eventual field visit

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

The MSF mission of Somalia is composed of several projects: currently, Mudug and Baidoa. MSF staff are working in close collaboration with MoH colleagues, focusing on Mother and child Health, in hospital settings and at community level. The psychological support will be provided on request to MSF & MoH staff working in different Health Facilities MSF is supporting.

Some categories of staff are particularly subject to stress due to their professional activities or to their long lasting leaving conditions in conflict setting, with regular exposure to violences.

The psychologist will be responsible to conduct regular and on request, field visits in the different project locations, in order to:

Raise awareness and promote the services

Conduct group session with particularly at risk of stress staff: CHWs, TBAs, MH & SV Provide face to face psychological support to individual on request

In between, the psychologist consultant will respond to individual request, providing individual psychological support or psychotherapy session on remote (online service).

The psychologist consultant will produce a monthly report detailing the activities implemented and attend at least a monthly meeting with his technical supervisor
