Job description
SOS Children’s Villages invites applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates who fulfill the eligibility criterion for the below position.
Position Title : Screener
Reporting to : Nutrition Supervisor
Location : Baidoa
Position Summary
As the Screener for Nutrition the employee is expected to carry out preparation for nutrition activities carried out at SOS Main Hospital. Additionally, s/he will be registering children under 5 years within the program. The employee will work under the guidance of the Nutrition Supervisor.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The following are key responsibilities of the Screener role
· Check anthropometric measures, MUAC, and oedema and cases to appropriate structure.
· Record properly all screening results and write daily, weekly, monthly reports.
· Explain purpose of admission
· Identify absentees or defaulters and inform the outreach workers
· Organize home visit for absents to avoid them to default from the program.
· Check at home the environment and provide advices to the caretaker: hygiene, health education
· Fix a bracelet with an identification number
· Assist to a feeding time to observe the child and caretaker in their environment and provide advices.
· Receive the patients admitted, together with those accompanying them, and give them information on how the center functions.
· Record in the screening book all beneficiaries screened, and refer them to the appropriate structure using a referral ticket
· Give the patient or the person accompanying him the treatment card, a food ration, and an appointment for the follow-up
To carry-out any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by the supervisor
Skills and qualifications
· Nutrition training certificate or related field and Secondary certificate
· Minimum 2 years of progressive professional experience in doing of OTP screening, or had work with Nutrition Partner for nutrition Projects
· Excellent command in Somali and English languages
· Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
· Ward management skills
· Proactive, result oriented, independent, able to identify and carry out duties with minimum supervision.
