Background:
The Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) is an independent, non-political humanitarian organization that was founded in April 1963 and was established with presidential decree No. 187 in 1965. It was then recognized by the ICRC in 1969 and in the same year became a member of the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent societies.
Overall Job Purpose
Oversee the daily operation of the pharmaceutical warehouse at the Branch level by processing requisitions, receiving and verifying drugs and medical supplies, maintaining accurate records and ensuring they are properly organized, shelved and securely stored. Coordinate the processing of requisitions to ensure availability of adequate supplies in a timely manner.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Ensure that drugs are received and stored appropriately in accordance with policy guidelines
• Maintain efficient stock control with the objective of ensuring continuity of medical supplies
• Routinely check and remove outdated and expired medications
• Prepare and dispense drugs to patients according to the health policies and standards of drug management
• Receive and verify prescriptions, and ensure drugs are properly labelled before dispensing to patients in compliance with relevant regulations and pharmacy policies
• Respond to queries from patients regarding their prescriptions
• Liaise with procurement and logistics function regarding new supplies as well as returnable items, expired and damaged goods and any other queries as required
• Maintain cleanliness of pharmacy and medical supplies and equipment are in good condition
• The single dose drugs must ensure the patients to swallow on the spot, if possible
• Monitor and identify daily monitoring and follow up with patient’s chronic diseases who are taking drugs such as diabetics and blood pressure cases.
• Prepare and submit accurate and detailed monthly statistics and record of all dispensing transactions Perform other related duties as assigned by the SRCS Senior Management
Skills and qualifications
Educational Qualifications & Professional Training
Education Diploma in Pharmacy Technology or equivalent qualifications
Professional Training Pharmaceutical Inventory Control
Certification/Licensing N/A

Language Requirement
Demonstrate proficiency in Somali and English languages
Relevant Experience
Minimum 2 year’s relevant experience working in a pharmacy, including handling requisitions and dispensing medications
