BACKGROUND
Lifeline Gedo (LLG) is national non-governmental humanitarian organization dedicated towards ensuring that local communities in Somalia are resilient and able to cope with perennial shocks that threaten their livelihoods year in year out. LLG engages in long-term development work, responds to emergency situations, and seeks to address the root causes of poverty.
1. POSITION INFORMATION
Position Title : Wash Officer (1 positions))
Duty Station: Burdhuubo, Gedo, Somalia
Organizational Unit: Programmes
Reporting Directly To: Team-Leader
Overall Supervision By: Area Coordinator.
Remuneration: Negotiable
Managerial Responsibility: None.
Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension.
Directly Reporting Staff: To be reported by All Burdhuubo Staff.
2. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE
The WASH Officer coordinates and supervises all the activities which require specific WASH knowledge (water and sanitation) and also act as line Manager for Hygiene and Sanitation Assistants
Job Summary:
The WASH Officer coordinates and supervises all the activities which require specific WASH knowledge (water and sanitation) and also act as line Manager for Hygiene and Sanitation Assistants.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
ü • Assess needs for WASH interventions (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene facilities) at community level including IDPs and Health facilities
ü • Prepare or revise bill of quantities and construction plans related to the construction works and also participate in design of infrastructure and procurement processes.
ü • Supervise the execution of the WASH works directly and provide technical guidance and expertise to the Hygiene Promotion Team.
ü • Line Manage Hygiene and Sanitation Assistants to ensure participation of beneficiaries in designs, and maintenance of infrastructure are adhered to according to the humanitarian guidelines and standards.
ü • Prepare and submit reports to the Area Coordinator using the appropriate templates as per request and schedule.
ü • Network/partner with district authorities, INGOs, UN bodies and other stakeholders to ensure standards, regulations and procedures are adhered to in line with the SPHERE standard and donor requirements
ü • Data collection, accurate record keeping and management of information to measure progress and impact of project in line with the guiding humanitarian standards and as required by the WASH Cluster.
ü • Conducting rapid needs assessment (RNA) during emergencies.
ü • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Skills and qualifications
ü Master and Degree subject to the position Must have at least Five years’ experience in the same position.
ü Ability and willingness to work in the community.
ü Basic knowledge of signs and symptoms of diseases and the appropriate treatment
ü Independently motivated and able to work without supervision.
ü Must possess problem solving abilities.
ü Ability to assist with community outreach activities.
ü Ability to work in a team including performing any other activities or duties in support of the services as delegated by their supervisor.
