Job description
Field Office Coordinator
1. Role Summary:
The purpose of a Field Coordinator is to contribute to project implementation in Somali Region. It will predominantly include cooperation with all local stakeholders and partners, serving as the primary point of contact for NRC with beneficiaries and the public, in addition to including supervision of NRC staff in responsibility.
Generic Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, procedures and SOPs/guidelines.
- Act as primary point of contact and facilitate communication between NRC management and NRC staff in the area or responsibility, members of local community, beneficiaries, local authorities, and all other stakeholders, including the UN and donors.
- Line management of senior programme staff (i.e. Core Competency Team Leaders who will receive technical oversight and supervision from Jijgija Area Office CC Project Coordinators) and line management of support functions in the area.
- Manage day-to-day project implementation, HR & Admin, finance, logistics, M&E, and security tasks of the field office.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for effective and efficient management of field projects consistent with the project management cycle.
- Responsible for providing support to field-based staff in implementing NRC project(s), in close coordination and collaboration with the Jigjiga Area Management Team and CC Project Coordinators Managers based in Jigjiga;
- Responsible for providing timely and methodical updates regarding the context, needs, and trends to the Area Manager.
- Overall budget management in line with the approved authorization table and ensure appropriate burn rates are maintained and that solutions to over/under expenditure are applied.
- Support the field-based staff, particularly M&E, by reporting on potential conflicts of interest, fraud, protection concerns, and any other effects related to NRC’s assistance.
- Support dedicated NRC safety and security staff in information collection and sharing to ensure the safety of NRC staff and beneficiaries.
- Ensure security guidelines and security risk assessments are implemented and regularly updated for all project locations.
- Ensure all relevant stakeholders are included in the planning and implementation of projects as appropriate.
- Under the line management of the Area Manager and close support from the Area Management team and the CC Project Coordinators in Jigjiga, contribute towards drawing up plans, proposals and budgets for new projects/extensions of projects in conjunction with the relevant team, both programme and support staff.

- Minimum 3 years’ experience from a coordinator position in a humanitarian/recovery context

- Fluency in English, both written and verbal,
- Understanding of the context (Melkadida/Liban) is essential
- Demonstrated ability to perform well in a highly fluid environment where both context and organizational structure are subject to continuous, abrupt and substantial change.
