Casual Enumerators (roster) for – Galkacayo (North &South)
DRC Somalia/Land
DRC has been operating in Somalia since 1998 using the protection of human rights framework. Somalia is
experiencing a devastating humanitarian crisis, with nearly 80% of the population in need of some form of
humanitarian assistance. DRC in Somalia is scaling up the operation in emergency response through an integrated
approach accessing hard to reach populations
Overall purpose of the role: (1-2 sentences)
The primary objective is to get qualified enumerators to support tasks, assessments, surveys and routing data
collection activities required by DRC in Galkacyo,(North & South) the main tasks that enumerators will be
responsible are the data collection of all assessments, including rapid needs assessment, Beneficiary verifications,
Post Distribution Monitoring (PDMs), KAP surveys, Baseline surveys, Mid- Term Reviews and Final evaluations.
Hence, DRC will hire experienced local data collectors to undertake both quantitative and qualitative data collection
with highest quality measures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Participate in trainings to familiarize with tools before actual field data collection.
• To collect data for assessments based using given tools and questionnaires.
• To capture data from target groups and input into digital platforms using mobile phones
• To ensure accuracy and completeness of information that is gathered and recorded through the survey process.
• Take direction from and report to assigned supervisor by DRC.
• Act in a professional and honest manner and work collaboratively with other enumerators
• Collect and record data on routine activities and share with Supervisor.
• Participate in gathering of data during needs assessments, baseline survey and other assessments.
• Act as a link between the community leaders, the community, and other stakeholders in the area.
• Enumerators will conduct beneficiary registration and data entry and ensure quality of data entry and
contribute to the
• distribution of hygiene kits to beneficiaries.
• Mobilize the community to participate in the projects and encourage all groups to participate.
• Be a good steward by ensuring that project materials and resources are used effectively.
• Ensure that cross-cutting issues such as protection, gender, and environmental considerations are respected
during data collection.
• Perform other duties related to field data collection as may be assigned by DRC program and MEAL teams.
Skills and qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum of 1 year working experience with humanitarian international NGOs on data management.
• Minimum of 1-year field experience on the same field.
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic and Ethiopian languages (Amharic, Oromo), is an added
advantage.
• Must have practical experience working with mobile data collection tools i.e., ODK and KOBO
• Familiar with local context and cultural sensitivity
• Ability to work in challenging field environments
• Has effective communication skills (oral and written) and is able to do interviews.
• Ability to work independently as well as an effective team player.
• Highly organized individual, capable of handling multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and managing time
effectively.
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
• Ability to work both independently and within diverse teams.
• Fluency in local languages; working proficiency in English (spoken and written).
• Basic understanding of humanitarian principles, accountability standards, and ethical data collection
practices.
• Adaptability to changing field conditions and ability to work in high-pressure environments.
