Staff recruitment: Country Project Engineer

Who we are:

Genius Watter is an Italian company (innovative startup associated with an international industrial group) that aims to give access to clean water to private clients and rural communities in emerging countries, through environmentally and economically sustainable solutions.

The company designs and manufactures patented water desalination and purification plants, totally powered by photovoltaic solar energy, without batteries. Our water treatment solutions are suitable for the supply of clean and potable water for communities in rural areas, as well as for the private sector, especially tourism. Genius Watter offers the hospitality industry a sustainable, turnkey solution to achieve a strong reduction in the costs of energy, water and water heating/cooling services.

Genius Watter, headquartered in Italy with a subsidiary in Cape Verde, Zanzibar, is registered in Somalia with two offices: Garowe for Puntland area, Hargeisa for Somaliland one. We rely on a team of about 20 people, which is growing as the company continues to expand into several international markets, especially in Africa.

Who we are looking for:

Genius Watter is expanding the technical department of Somalia. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Engineer to take on the role of Country Project Engineer, who will join a young company able to guarantee concrete growth opportunities.

Ideal candidates have initiative and problem solving skills; they are motivated, flexible, inclined to work in team and want to self-improve. We are looking for an engineer passionate for sustainability and development of community projects, and interested in the development of innovative projects in the field of desalination and water purification, heat pumps combined with photovoltaics and other technical advanced solutions.

How you will contribute:

Technical surveys; Reporting;

Warehouse and inventory management;

Project supervision and plant commissioning activities; Technical support to the sales team;

Definition of procurement technical specifications, evaluation of suppliers' offers; Operation and maintenance of our photovoltaic and desalinization systems;

Technical assistance to the client for energy audits, feasibility analyses, project development, after-sales service organization.

Design and sizing of:

  • on/off-grid photovoltaic solar systems;
  • hydraulic water desalination and purification systems powered by photovoltaic solar energy;
  • thermo-hydraulic systems powered by photovoltaic solar energy combined with heat pumps.

 

Skills and qualifications

Successful candidates must possess:

Able to travel in all Somalia's regions; English (B2 level);

Microsoft Office, especially advanced knowledge of Excel; Manual skills for plant commissioning activities;

Minimum 1 years of engineering work experience in the solar photovoltaic sector or related activities;

Experience in off-grid and/or grid-connected photovoltaic systems; 2D-3D technical drawing (Sketchup or Autocad or similar);

Master’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Energy or Electric Energy; Knowledge/experience of hydraulics and/or thermal hydraulics;

Availability to travel especially in Africa.

Should be a plus

Knowledge of PVSyst, Solidworks, Simulink;

Basic knowledge of programming languages (Fortran, Python, VBA, etc.) and PLCs; Basic knowledge of networking

Knowledge of other languages: Italian, Portuguese, French, Spanish; International work experience;

Management and coordination of technical team in previous experience.
