Job description

Job Title : STOREKEEPER ASSISTANT
Work Location : GURIEL_SOMALIA
Start date : AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Length of contract : Fixed term (1year) 100% with 3 to 6 months’ probation period.
Main Purpose
Carrying out tasks of checking, recording and storing as well as preparing goods to be sent, according MSF standards
and procedures and the storekeeper's instructions, in order to ensure proper orders' reception and dispatch
Accountabilities
• Performing tasks as per the Storekeeper's instructions. This includes but are not limited to the following:
• Receiving goods arriving to the store, checking its status/condition and amounts in the waybill
• Preparing outgoing items in a clean and optimized way by appropriately packing, sealing and labeling goods, assisting
with recording the exits on stock cards and project form, and ensuring good quality of cold chain when needed
• Ensuring that goods are well organized and stored in a clean area to be visible and traceable i.e. assisting in the stock
inventory, storing items according to nature and use, and ensuring that the temperature in the store is appropriate and
items that require cold chain are correctly stored
• Carrying out basic maintenance of the store, ensuring security conditions (keeping unauthorized staff out, locking,
etc....)
• Ensuring cleanliness of common working areas
• Ensuring proper use, storage and maintenance of the equipment and tools provided
• Informing superiors of any incident that may occur in the course of his/her work
• Helping MSF staff carry heavy items, if necessary
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
Receiving and Inspection
 Assist in receiving incoming goods and materials.
 Verify quantities, quality, and condition of items received.
 Report damaged or missing inventory to supervisors.
 Unload deliveries and ensure items are appropriately labeled and stored.
Inventory Management
 Help maintain up-to-date inventory records and stock levels.
 Conduct regular stock counts and assist with inventory audits.
 Monitor stock movements and notify the supervisor of low stock or discrepancies.
 Ensure first-in, first-out (FIFO) principles are followed for perishable or time-sensitive items.
Storage and Organization
 Arrange stock in the storage area in an orderly and accessible manner.
 Label shelves, bins, and containers clearly.
 Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store/warehouse.
 Follow safety and health regulations in storage practices.
Issuing and Dispatch
 Assist in issuing materials, tools, or products as per requisitions or dispatch orders.
 Pack and prepare materials for delivery or transfer.
 Ensure proper documentation accompanies all issued or dispatched goods.
Documentation and Record Keeping
EXTERNAL VACANCY
 Maintain records of all incoming and outgoing items.
 Assist in generating stock reports, delivery notes, and inventory logs.
 Input inventory data into computerized systems or maintain manual records as required.
Safety and Compliance
 Follow MSF safety protocols and procedures at all times.
 Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
 Ensure storage compliance with legal and organizational standards.
Soft Skills:
 Attention to detail and accuracy.
 Good organizational and time-management skills.
 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
 Strong communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
 Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items (usually up to 25-50 lbs).
 Standing, walking, and climbing ladders for extended periods.
 Working in varying warehouse conditions (heat, cold, noise).

Skills and qualifications

Education Essential: High-School Education. Desirable: Diploma in relevant Studies.
Experience Essential minimum 2 years relevant experience in NGO. Desirable: at least one year relevant
experience with MSF.
Languages Mission language essential, local language desirable
Knowledge • Desirable ability to do basic repairs
• Essential basic knowledge of mathematics
• Desirable: Computer Litracy (Excel, Word)
