Job Description

SO! Ltd is seeking a qualified, experienced, and highly motivated Telecom Rigger Team Supervisor to lead and manage field operations. This is a full-time position suited for a technically skilled professional with strong leadership capabilities and a passion for delivering high-quality telecom installations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and actively participating in the installation of various telecommunications equipment. This includes the precise installation and alignment of directional antennas, ensuring accurate azimuth, tilt, and height, and achieving optimal coverage and network performance.

The role requires proficiency in the use of field tools such as compasses, alignment instruments, and other installation equipment to ensure accurate positioning and signal optimization. A strong commitment to safety standards and strict compliance with all operational procedures is essential.

In addition to technical responsibilities, the Field Supervisor will lead, train, and mentor a team of approximately seven (7) riggers, ensuring that all tasks are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Ø  Supervise and lead a team of telecom riggers during installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.

Ø  Plan, assign, and monitor daily field tasks to ensure timely and efficient project execution.

Ø  Install and align directional antennas with precise azimuth, tilt, and height to achieve optimal signal coverage and performance.

Ø  Ensure proper installation of telecom equipment, including radios, antennas, mounts, cabling, and associated hardware.

Ø  Use and guide the team in the correct handling of tools such as compasses, alignment devices, GPS tools, and RF testing equipment.

Ø  Conduct site surveys and provide accurate technical assessments prior to installation.

Ø  Monitor signal quality metrics (e.g., RSSI, SNR, throughput) and perform optimization where necessary.

Ø  Enforce strict compliance with health and safety regulations, including working at heights and proper use of PPE.

Ø  Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to improve technical skills, safety awareness, and productivity.

Ø  Ensure all installations meet company standards, technical specifications, and customer requirements.

Ø  Coordinate with the Network Operations Center (NOC), planning team, and management to ensure smooth project delivery.

Ø  Maintain accurate documentation, including installation reports, site checklists, and incident reports.

Ø  Troubleshoot and resolve field issues related to connectivity, alignment, or equipment faults.

Ø  Ensure proper handling, usage, and accountability of tools, materials, and company assets.

Ø  Report daily and weekly progress, challenges, and performance updates to management.

Ø  Physically fit and capable of frequent tower climbing, heavy lifting, and working in challenging outdoor environments.

Ø  Take accountability for adherence to HSE and field safety compliance holder.

 

 

Skills and qualifications

Requirements & Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

·         Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in telecom field operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.

·         Proven experience in installing and aligning wireless equipment, including directional antennas, radios, and transmission systems.

·         Strong understanding of antenna alignment principles (azimuth, tilt, and line-of-sight) and RF fundamentals.

·         Practical experience with wireless technologies such as Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), LTE/4G, Point-to-Multi-Point (PTMP) connections, and Point-to-Point (PTP) links.

·         Proficiency in using field tools and instruments, including compasses, GPS devices, alignment tools, and RF testing equipment.

·         Solid knowledge of health and safety standards, especially working at heights and tower climbing procedures.

·         Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise, train, and motivate a field team.

·         Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, site plans, and network diagrams.

·         Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot field-related technical issues effectively.

·         Strong communication and reporting skills (both written and verbal).

·         Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing field conditions.

·         Physically fit and capable of working at heights and in outdoor environments.

·         Relevant certifications (e.g., working at heights, rigging, or telecom vendor certifications such as Ubiquiti, Huawei, ZTE, etc.) are an added advantage.
