Position: Dean of Faculty of ICT (Information and Telecommunication Technology)

Report to: Director of Academic and Quality Assurance
Location: Beder International University, Hargeisa, Somaliland
Working Hours: Eight hours per day

Background:                    
Beder International University (BIU) is a respected communal and non-profit institution situated in Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland. Accredited by the Somaliland Higher Education Commission, BIU is dedicated to addressing the educational needs of the Horn of Africa, with a particular focus on Somaliland. The university offers diverse programs in fields such as Islamic Economics and Banking, Information Technology, Medicine, Nursing, Accounting and Finance, Education, Project Management, Shari’ah, the Quran Sciences, and Business Administration.

Responsibilities:

• Provide academic and administrative leadership to the Faculty of ICT.
• Set strategic goals and objectives aligned with the university's vision and mission.
• Develop and implement industry-relevant academic programs and curricula.
• Foster excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.
• Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty members to maintain high standards.
• Support faculty in professional development and research activities.
• Review and update the curriculum to align with industry trends and advancements.
• Promote a research culture and facilitate research funding and collaborations.
• Establish and maintain industry partnerships for internships and job placements.
• Ensure academic support services and student success initiatives are in place.
• Manage the faculty's budget and allocate resources effectively.
• Represent the faculty and build relationships with external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation and quality assurance standards.
• Develop and implement strategic plans for the faculty's growth and success.

To be considered for this position, you should possess the following qualifications:

• Master's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• Minimum of two years of administrative experience, preferably in an academic setting.
• Four years of teaching experience at the university level, demonstrating expertise in ICT subjects.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and successful management of academic programs.
• Up-to-date knowledge of current ICT trends, technologies, and practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate and build partnerships with stakeholders.
• Fluency in English is a requirement, while proficiency in Arabic is preferred.
