Terms of Reference: Driver – The HALO Trust Somaliland

Summary

The Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of employees and equipment of the HALO Trust, or any passenger or equipment he may be directed to transport.

Particulars:

Reports to: Radio Room / Fleet Manager / Location Manager Burao / Team Supervisor

Internally, he/she works in close cooperation with: Senior mechanic, Fleet manager.

Externally, he/she deals with: None

Responsibilities

• The driver must always drive with care: he is responsible for the security of the passengers.
• The driver is responsible for the correct loading of the transported goods.
• The driver undertakes daily and weekly services and first parade checks on the vehicle. He is responsible maintaining the vehicle and ensuring that it is kept clean and tidy.
• The driver must inform the radio room of departure and arrival times.
• The driver updates the Log Sheet daily.
• In case of anomalies, the Workshop Supervisor should be informed and the defect noted in the Fault Report Sheet
• The driver must ensure that the toolbox, jack, wheel brace, extra wheel, shovel & towing belt are in the vehicle and that they are in a serviceable condition.
• The driver must wash and clean his car every week.
• The driver must inform the Radio Operator and his Supervisor immediately in case of a road traffic accident or breakdown.
• The driver has no right to use the car for private needs or for the transport of people not involved in the programme without the approval of the Programme Manager.
• He undertakes any other duties requested by the senior management staff.

Requirements

• CV (stating your experience)
• Valid Somaliland driving license
• 4-5 years of driving experience
• Excellent driving record
• A polite and professional character
• Ability to maintain a clean driving record, and comply with all safety regulations.
• Driving a variety of vehicles, such as cars and truck.
