A Nutrition TSFP Nurse, or a nurse involved in a Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP), is a healthcare professional who plays a critical role in the implementation and management of nutrition support for individuals at risk of malnutrition, particularly vulnerable populations such as children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.

Main responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the TSFP to provide supplementary feeding to malnourished individuals, particularly children and pregnant or lactating women.

• Oversee the distribution of supplementary food products to beneficiaries, ensuring that the quantities provided meet the nutritional needs of participants.

• Provide nutrition education and counseling to beneficiaries and their families on healthy eating practices, food preparation, and the importance of nutrition for recovery.

• Monitor the progress of beneficiaries enrolled in the TSFP by tracking weight gain, dietary intake, and overall health status. Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness.

• Engage with the community to raise awareness about the TSFP, its objectives, and the importance of addressing malnutrition.

• Work closely with healthcare professionals, such as doctors and nurses, to ensure comprehensive care for malnourished individuals and facilitate referrals to additional health services as needed.

• Prepare regular reports on program activities, outcomes, and challenges faced during implementation. Share findings with relevant stakeholders and management.
