Job description
Purpose of the Job:
The Teller will categorically help clients of the bank with routine financial transactions. Their day-to-day duties include making deposits, handling withdrawals and issuing money orders or cashier’s checks.
Teller’s primary responsibility is customer service. He/She must be knowledgeable about a range of bank operations and be able to answer any questions a customer has.
Main Duties:
- Recording transactions, which involves logging checks and preparing transaction reports
- Counting and packaging currency
- Reconciling cash drawers
- Opening new accounts and helping with loan applications
- Exchanging foreign currency
- Promoting the Shabelle bank’s products and services
- Keeping customers’ personal information confidential
- Communicating with other bank team members
General Responsibilities
- To adhere to the Shabelle Bank policy in all activities, and to actively promote equality of opportunity wherever possible.
- To adhere to confidentiality clause and uphold the Shabelle bank code of conduct.
- To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected.
- To provide a healthy and comfortable working environment, smoking is prohibited
Skills and qualifications
- High school leaving certificate or equivalents may be required.
- Having a range of customer service skills, since they’re often the first person a customer speaks to at a bank will be advantageous
- Since they are the first to be stopped by the customers need to have a warm demeanor and friendly disposition
- Must be confident, self-starter, an independent thinker and have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; team oriented.
