Role Overview

The Head of Pharmacy will manage the strategic procurement, safe storage, precise dispensing,

and clinical utilization of pharmaceuticals throughout the hospital. You will lead the pharmacy team and serve as the core advisor on rational drug use.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Control: Oversee pharmaceutical supply chains, reduce wastage, and prevent stockouts.

Clinical Pharmacy: Supervise clinical pharmacy services and participate in multidisciplinary patient rounds.

Regulatory Compliance: Maintain rigorous standards for controlled substances and medication safety.

Financial Oversight: Manage the pharmacy budget and analyze cost-effective medication purchasing. Qualifications & Experience

Shared Core Competencies for All Roles

Language Capabilities: Proficiency in English, Somali and Amharic is highly valued for day-to-day operations and community engagement.

Cultural Competence: Deep respect for and understanding of the local community values in the Somali Region. Digital Literacy: Comfort using Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) and standard office software.

Education: Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm); Clinical Pharmacy specialization or a master’s degree is a distinct advantage.

Experience: 5+ years of pharmacy experience in a general hospital, including a minimum of 3 years managing pharmacy operations.

Licensure: Registered and licensed Pharmacist with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health.

Skills: Advanced knowledge of drug interactions, inventory management software, procurement protocols, and strong auditing skills.
