Description:

We are seeking a General Surgeon to become part of our team and carry out a range of surgical operations on patients within our healthcare facilities. The general Surgeon's responsibilities include educating patients on their surgical options, preparing patients for surgery and leading surgeries as needed. Ultimately, he / she will work with a team of medical professionals overseeing the medical and surgical care of patients.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

• The General Surgeon Doctor will be primarily responsible for proper surgical therapeutic intervention particularly the patients under his direct care.

• He / She is able to perform both major and minor emergency surgeries and be able to perform the life-saving procedures.

• He / She is able to diagnose and treat the majority of the most common diseases.

• Performing ward round on a scheduled basis with nurses on duty and prescription of treatment according to the Hospital guidelines and protocols.

• Responsibility of admission and discharge of patients, prescription of medications and other routine procedures.

• Ensure the ICRC basic principles for the management of war wounds are followed and adapted according to circumstances.

• Ensures the standard treatment protocols (medical & surgical) are followed during the patient treatment.

• Ensures aseptic techniques, disinfection and hygiene protocols are adhered to and applied.

Minimum requirements:

• Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS).

• Post-graduate qualification is preferable.

• At least five years of professional experience in general surgery, with verified proof available.

• Possessing a strong degree of honesty and integrity, and a solid sense of ethics including the ability to appropriately handle confidential information

• A good level of knowledge in Somali and English
