JOB TITLE:                        Intern

LOCATION:                      Kismayo, Somali

CONTRACT DURATION: Five (5) months

START DATE:                   July 2022

STIPEND:             A stipend to facilitate the intern.  

POSITION SUMMARY:

With the support and under the direct supervision of the FLS Project Officer and in collaboration with the Field Coordinator, the FSL Project Intern is responsible for providing support in Field activities as delegated by the FSL Project Officer. The position is envisaged to provide opportunity for young people/ fresh graduates to learn within an organizational set-up to be able to launch their careers in the sector. They will learn under – and mentored by - experienced practitioners within the organization.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

·         Take part in SIF’s activities including program implementation including distribution process of food and non-food items, shelter and cash;

·         Actively participate in community mobilization when need arises in all SIF projects.

·         Provide human resource support to the project team during the beneficiary registration, assessment and surveys.

·         Participate in communication, reporting and documentation of project activities.

·         Take part in post distribution monitoring (PDM) activities in the projects under implementation by SIF.

·         Maintain proactive and effective communication with project team on a regular basis.

·         Assist in proper documentation and record keeping of project filing as maintaining the project archives.

·         Contribute in interim/narrative reporting and case studies preparation.

·         Support to administration, logistics, and procurement processes if needed.

·         Learn and respect SIF’s code of conduct, internal policies and regulations.

·         Be a member of SIF team as a child friendly organization.

·         Understand, abide and promote the child safeguarding policy at all times.

·         Any other task assigned by Supervisor in relation to program activities.

The intern must be a Somali national.

·         A minimum of secondary level education or above.

·         A youth of the age of 19 to 28 years of age.

·         The intern should be from IDPs, returnees or vulnerable community in Kismayo or surrounding areas.

·         S/he is preferred to have recommendation for internship from the village/camp leader/ University or college administration.

·         Should be a person of high integrity and moral character.

·         Honest, hardworking person, and flexible in taking assignments and the working hours as directed by the Supervisor.

·         Willing to learn and work in a multi-cultural work environment.

·         Be familiar with the context of Kismayo town and surroundings.

·         Ability to interact with host community, returnees and IDPs.

Ethics and professional practice

·         Respect and promote SIF’s Policies and Agree to comply with SIF Code of Conduct and ensures Child Safeguarding standards are upheld.

·         SIF is a non-smoking and non-substance abuse environment. Interns are expected not to smoke, or chew Miraa at the working area or while at work.

·         Report to your line manager any discrepancies of SIF’s policies among the team or partners

·         Maintain confidentiality at all times about SIF data and information
