1. Breif introduction

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been working in Somalia since 1964. As a service provider with worldwide operations in the fields of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work, GIZ works with its partners to develop effective solutions that offer people better prospects and sustainably improve their living conditions. The goal of GIZ is to support the capacity development of people, organizations and institutional structures in the partner countries so as to enable them better their living conditions through their own efforts.

Urban Food Security Project:

In May 2017, the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) commissioned GIZ to implement a transitional aid project “Drought Recovery Project”, (now the GIZ Urban Food Security) under the “Food security in the Horn of Africa, drought response measures in Somalia”. The aim of the project is to create conditions for an improved nutritional situation of the household in the new settlements in Kismayo

1. Responsibilities

The Junior Logistics Specialist is responsible for:

• Process requests at project level on a timely basis.

• Initiate a transparent process according to P+R.

• Maintain an event monitoring tool.
• Coordinate effectively with other colleagues in the administrative and finance departments at various projects within the cluster.
• Ensure that the provided services are within the section and are done correctly according to P+R.

In this context, the Junior Logistics officer fulfils the following tasks:

The Junior Logistics Specialist:

• Organise internal and external events according to the guidelines of GIZ
• Advising & guide other colleagues within the projects on matters relating to events and logistics in accordance with P+R guidelines.

• Arranges for smooth flow of events process.

• Organise fleet management on a timely basis and conduct regular fuel consumption checks

• Monitor utilities and material on project level and ensure timely restocking of the same
• Organise travel management for colleagues and partners.

1. Other duties/additional tasks

The Junior Logistics Specialist:

• Support the visa process for colleagues and partners
• Conduct regular logbook checks of all GIZ vehicles
• Ensure the good quality of office material in all GIZ offices
• Inventory management

1. Required qualifications, competences, and experience Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and/or similar field.

Professional experience

• At least 3 year of professional working experience in administration, preferably in logistics

Other knowledge, additional competences

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Good analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Supervisory and management experience.
• Attention to detail.
