Job description
AYUUB NGO is a non-profit, impartial, non-political and voluntary national NGO based in South Central Somalia with offices in Banadir region, South West State, Hirshabelle and Jubaland states. AYUUB was established 1991 in Ayuub village- Merka district.
AYUUB NGO has responded to Somalia’s worst humanitarian crisis for over 30 years amidst civil unrest, hunger, disease, drought and floods that have ravaged the horn of African country as a national leader in humanitarian programming in WASH, Livelihoods support, CCCM, health, nutrition, education, child protection and child rights governance.
Our long operational history and broad geographical coverage of Banadir region, South West State, Hirshabelle, and Jubaland states have afforded us tremendous working relationships with key stakeholders, including the national government, local authorities, donors, international and local NGOs, and more so, the trust and acceptance of the communities we serve.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the implementation, management, supervision and support of the assigned nutrition project in line with the activity plan and time frame of the relevant project proposal and any applicable national and international guidelines and standards.
- Conduct regular field trips to health facilities and outreach locations for support and supervision.
- Ensure that regular monitoring and evaluation assessments are conducted both against project objectives and to ensure the quality of the programme.
- Provide input into the integration of beneficiary participation and accountability in all aspects of the project.
- Oversee the process of data collection, collation and dissemination to meet the requirements and deadlines set by AYUUB.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities for internal and external reports (e.g. weekly, monthly, quarterly and final reports) as requested by Executive Director, HQ and donors
- Line manage and oversee the assigned nutrition team including recruitment, day-to-day management, development and training, appraisals, etc.
- Facilitate regular team meetings with the assigned nutrition team, reviewing team and individual objectives, ensuring team members are kept informed of issues relevant to their work and providing an opportunity for feedback.
- Design and undertake capacity building strategy for Nutrition programme staff in order to ensure quality service delivery.
- Assess training needs for the nutrition staff and ensure appropriate training is conducted.
- Promote the health and security of the nutrition team by ensuring the application of security guidelines.
Financial Management
- Work with the relevant managers to plan, construct and manage nutrition budgets for the assigned nutrition project.
- Coordinate and oversee petty cash requirements of the assigned nutrition team, ensuring all required paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Communication and Coordination
- Develop and maintain appropriate, regular, transparent and supportive communication structures with the assigned nutrition team and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. beneficiaries, community leaders, local and national government officials, UN agencies,)
- Represent AYUUB at relevant local level coordination meetings involving local authorities, Cluster meetings both National and sub-national, UN agencies and other NGOs.
- Manage the correct and timely ordering (within budgetary constraints) of all necessary medicines, supplies and equipment for the assigned nutrition facilities and activities, ensuring minimum stocks are maintained and items are stored and distributed correctly.
- Ensure timely requests are submitted to nutrition partners (WFP and Unicef) to release and deliver Nutrition supplies at the designated warehouses.
- Coordinate with the logistics team and ensure proper warehouse management including stock cards, stock outs, monthly inventory etc.
- Work closely with the logistics team for staff movement to field locations e.g. hiring of cars.
Quality Management
- Implement, as far as is possible within operational constraints, relevant policies and standards relating to nutrition service delivery including Sphere and HAP standards, national requirements and donor guidelines and other good practice.
- Participate as requested AYUUB internal workshops and distance learning sessions to keep up with changing trends, new guidelines and best practices.
- Ensure nutrition assessments and interventions are in line with relevant national and international quidelines (MUAC, CMAM, IYCF)

- Assesses project performance to identify success factors and incorporates best practices into project work.
- Research linkages across programme activities to identify critical points of integration.
- Monitors specific stages of projects/programme implementation.
- Generates new ideas and proposes new, more effective ways of doing things.
- Documents and analyses innovative strategies/best practices/new approaches.
Skills and qualifications
- Master’ degree in a Nutrition, public health or any other related field.
- 4 years post-qualification professional experience in a relevant field
- 3 years of experience in nutrition implementations or emergency context Written and oral fluency in English.
- Management experience in a nutrition / health context Experience working in a nutrition / health programme in a conflict areas..
