POLISH HUMANITARIAN ACTION IS LOOKING FOR FINANCE ASSISTANT

About PAH:

Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is a non-governmental organization which mission it is to make the world a better place. For over 20 years, we have been providing relief in big and small emergencies worldwide alongside with running long-term missions in several countries in crisis.

Our interventions – of both humanitarian and development character– have been carried out in 44 countries so far. Our focus is on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering the consequences of war and/or natural disasters. We possess long-standing expertise in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), but also implement projects in Nutrition. For more information, please refer to www.pah.org.pl.

PAH Mission in Somalia:

PAH has been present in Somalia since 2011. With WASH, FSL and Nutrition programs PAH supported people from the most vulnerable communities in different regions in Somalia. Our primary focus is to provide safe drinking water through rehabilitation of water infrastructure, constructing water distribution systems, and constructing rain water reservoirs. In our work we also focus on other WASH components such as improvement of sanitary conditions, hygiene promotion to make our WASH interventions fully comprehensive. Our current donors are ECHO, GFFO, SHF and UNICEF. PAH programs targets the most vulnerable IDPs, host and rural communities as well as institutions in Banadir, Lower Shebelle, Middle Shebelle and Galmudug Region.

PAH in Somalia is looking for a Finance Assistant who will become part of our operation team. The person will hold the following responsibilities:

• Prepare and arrange proper systematic filling system (hard copies) for monthly submission of donor financial report
• Putting paid stamp on all documentation, proper numbering on hard copies for shipment and marking transactions on bank statements.
• Prepare payment vouchers
• Follow up the corrections to be done on the timely manner and cooperate with Accountant and Program team.
• Review monthly IP financial report together with supporting documents on timely manner, booking notes/transaction listing and follow up the comments to be solved on time.
• Assist in preparation of documents for audits
• Review the bills and process payments
• Taking over petty cash management during absence of Accountant.
• Performing any other duties as directed and instructed by the direct supervisor.

• Bachelor’s degree in areas such as accounting/finance/economics
• (Alternatively) 2 years of work experience with similar responsibilities
• Strong in MS Office, in particular Excel
• Ease at using online based platforms and applications
• Fluent in Somali and English languages
• High ethical standards
• Developed organizational and planning skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work with data and present information in clear manner
• Focus on results and meeting deadlines
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and fast pace environment
• Fluent in Somali and English languages
