Moderator Assistant

Country: Somalia/ Somaliland

Location: Mogadishu with visits to Raagsan’s other offices.

Salary: A starting salary range of USD 8,400 per annum

Job Type: Full-time permanent

Contract duration: Until 31st Dec 2025

Working Times/Zones: 40 hours per week, Eastern Africa Time.

Indirect relationships: Parnership and Community Engagment Lead, Sensitive Feedback Lead, among others.

Role Overview

The Moderator Assistant role combines core moderation tasks with communications and community engagement responsibilities. As a critical member of the Somalia team, you will ensure timely and effective moderation while enhancing Loop’s communication efforts and outreach strategies. You will bridge feedback systems with engagement initiatives, fostering trust and inclusivity within the communities we serve

Expected Tasks

Moderation responsibilities:

●      Review, tag, and manage community feedback submitted to the Loop platform, adhering to community guidelines and protocols.

●      Approve or reject feedback and replies for publication based on established standards.

●      Translate feedback between English and local languages, ensuring accuracy and cultural relevance.

●      Forward sensitive feedback to the Sensitive Feedback Lead and support referral pathways as needed.

●      Notify and collaborate with relevant organisations and stakeholders regarding feedback pertinent to their work.

●      Contribute to the development of Moderator Protocols by providing feedback and insights.

Communications and Community Engagement:

●      Support the implementation of Loop’s local communication strategy, ensuring alignment with community needs and cultural contexts.

●      Assist in developing and disseminating awareness-raising materials, such as FAQs, promotional content, and instructional resources.

●      Represent Loop in community outreach and engagement activities, advocating for the platform and building relationships with stakeholders.

●      Facilitate onboarding sessions for partners, sharing best practices for community engagement and feedback utilization.

●      Provide feedback to the Communications and Fundraising Lead on local communication strategies, advocating for inclusivity and accessibility.

●      Participate in social media activities to promote Loop’s rollout and encourage platform adoption.

●      Document and share lessons learned to enhance Loop’s impact and refine engagement strategies.

Skills and qualifications

Necessary Skills and Experience

Essential Skills:

•       Language Proficiency: Fluency in local dialects of both Maxatidhi and Bajune is a requirement. Strong working proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is also required.

 

•       Technical Skills: Proficiency in using digital tools, including smartphones, computers, and communication platforms. Familiarity with Google Drive, Excel, Slack, and other online tools.

 

•       Relevant Experience: Demonstrated experience in moderation, community engagement, or related fields such as communications, accountability, or protection.

Desirable Skills:

●      Knowledge of additional local or regional languages.

 

●      Previous experience in humanitarian contexts or working with marginalized communities.

 

●      Familiarity with protection frameworks and referral pathways.

Soft Skills:

●      Effective Communication: Strong ability to adapt communication styles to diverse audiences.

 

●      Cultural Sensitivity: Empathy and cultural awareness in interactions with communities and stakeholders.
