TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR CASHIERS

DESIGNATION:   Cashiers (3 Positions)

2.    JOB SUMMARY:

The main purpose of this role is to ensure correct and prompt registration and charging of all patients and clients seeking services from the Horyaal  Hospital. Responsible for counting the contents of the cash register drawer at the end of each shift, and collecting payment, maintaining receipts, records, and withdrawals. 

3.    Area of Accountability:

®  To greet patients and other visitors coming to his desk

®  To receive payments by way of cash Managing all cash transactions at this desk.

®  To debit all cash received to the hospital account in the respective patient’s name

®  To ensure availability of change at all times so that returns are correct.

®  To issue receipts of all payments received.

®  To check the balance cash at the time of 'handing over' or `taking over'.

®  Assist the receptionist with patient coordination.

®  To answer phone calls whenever required.

®  To resolve patients' and visitors’ complaints.

®  To answer patients’ questions to their satisfaction.

®  To provide charges of hospital services to patients in advance according to the policy and procedures.

®  They should be responsible for the safe custody of cash up to a limit.

®  To maintain his desk and nearby area clean and tidy.

®  To be aware of all periodical and specific discounts the hospital offers.

®  To get accustomed to the medical terminology used in billing processes.

®  To answer all billing-related queries and provide information on the hospital's policies and procedures.

®  Provide timely feedback to clients to ensure high customer satisfaction.

®  Perform Any other duty assigned by his/her seniors.

®  Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or any other related field with at least three years of relevant work experience.

®  At least (3) three years of relevant work experience as a cashier preferably in a hospital setting.

®  Particular experience in computerized accounting systems (SAP, Odoo is an advantage).

®  Experience in finance or Accounting is required.

®  Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word)

®  Fluency in English and Somalia is required.

®  Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with members of the surgical team.

®  Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to anticipate and respond to the dynamic needs of the surgical environment.

®  Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and patient care delivery.

®  Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining patient confidentiality.
