Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Research Manager to oversee and coordinate research projects, ensuring high-quality delivery and actionable insights. The Research Manager will lead research design, manage teams, liaise with clients, and contribute to business development, playing a key role in advancing Ogal Consulting’s impact in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and management of qualitative and quantitative research projects tailored to client needs.
• Develop research tools, methodologies, and protocols ensuring rigor and relevance.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.
• Supervise and mentor research teams including analysts and enumerators to build capacity and maintain quality.
• Summarize and present complex research findings clearly to diverse audiences, including clients and stakeholders.
• Support business development by assisting in project scoping, proposal writing, and client engagement.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and collaborate with partners and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with ethical standards and data protection policies.
• Identify opportunities for methodological improvements and innovation in research approaches.
• Participate in dissemination activities such as workshops, seminars, and conferences.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in social sciences, economics, public policy, statistics, or related field preferred.
• 4-6 years of experience managing research projects, preferably in consultancy, international development, or policy research.
• Proven expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Experience with client-facing roles and leading client engagements.
• Excellent writing, communication, and data visualization skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with digital research tools and analytics is a plus.
• Experience working in East Africa or similar contexts is highly desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
