PREMISES MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
MOGADISHU

About the Job
The Premises Maintenance Supervisor ensures that all ICRC premises are maintained as per the laid down procedures.
This is a national/resident position based in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Supports in planning and construction of new buildings in all ICRC sites/premises
• Ensures office structures and premises are well maintained, highlighting necessary improvements and preventive maintenance
• Prepares, reviews and interprets designs, drawings, bills of quantities (estimates & costing) and works progress schedules for all civil works
• Ensures that maintenance requests are attended to effectively and efficiently and maintains a follow up file
• Analyzes and formulates solutions for the electrical, carpentry, masonry, metal works, plumbing, painting and any other civil works
• Allocates work to artisans and supervises to ensure adherence to the guidelines provided and conducts quality checks
• Participates in sourcing for contractors, contract negotiations, prepares contract documents, analyses, evaluates and maintains the contractors list for all the offices and antennas
• Makes frequent visits to the all the ICRC Offices and antennas and ensures that passive security measures are in place and are functional
• Works closely with the contractors and Water and Habitat (WatHab) Engineer in charge of the follow up of the projects
• Supervises the maintenance and construction works performed by the contractors
• Monitors security issues related to project sites and updates the WatHab Engineer and Line Manager accordingly
• In collaboration with Head of offices participate in the assessment of passive security needs
• Supports the Administrators in charge of the various offices in Somalia regarding premises renovations or maintenance issues
• Prepares the necessary implementation and progress reports
Skills and qualifications
• Bachelor`s degree in Architecture, Civil or Structural engineering with at least 4 years’ experience in building and construction or building maintenance
• Or Technician certificate in a relevant field of study coupled with 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Supervisor in a busy environment
• Extensive knowledge of building systems (Electrical and Plumbing)
• Proficient in use of AUTOCAD
• Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations and procedures
• Excellent planning and problem-solving skills
• Fluent in both written and spoken English and Somali language
• Excellent team management skills
• Proficiency in MS Office suite
