Background on ACTED

ACTED is looking for professionally confident, self-motivated, experienced, and committed team player to fill the REACH Analyst position in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Position Profile:
The REACH Analyst is responsible for supporting the activities of REACH and the Centre for Humanitarian Change (CHC) in Somalia. This includes the planning, implementation and follow up of REACH’s Area-Based Analysis Platform (ABAP), as well as CHC’s work to strengthen local information systems and knowledge sharing with ABC coordination groups. Working in close coordination with other team members and with relevant external partners, the Analyst will ensure the timely and effective delivery of all project deliverables and outputs.
Duties and Responsibilities.
- COORDINATION
Under the supervision of the Analysis Specialist, the Analyst will support coordination with ABC facilitators, mentors, and district-level stakeholders, helping to ensure that analysis is communicated clearly and can be used effectively for area-level decision-making. The Analyst will also support internal coordination with: (1) REACH Field, GIS, Data and Assessment colleagues; and (2) Acted departments (finance, logistics, etc.) as needed to support the smooth implementation of activities.
2. RESEARCH DESIGN
Under the supervision of the Analysis Specialist, the Analyst will assist in research design tasks, including contributing to the development of methodologies, workplans, Terms of Reference and/or Data Analysis Plans. The Analyst will also assist in operational planning in coordination with Field and FLATs colleagues, and will help prepare training materials and support the delivery of trainings
3. IMPLEMENTATION
Under the supervision of the Analysis Specialist, the Analyst will assist in data mapping and analysis processes for assigned research cycles, including supporting data categorization, processing, and flagging. The Analyst will also help facilitate communication with ABC facilitators, mentors, and district-level stakeholders during implementation, supporting their awareness and understanding of ongoing activities and emerging findings. The Analyst will be expected to maintain timely and effective communication throughout.
- OUTPUT PRODUCTION
Under the supervision of the Analysis Specialist, the Analyst will assist in the production of outputs and other relevant research cycles, which may include an online dashboard, factsheets, situation overviews, maps, reports, and presentations. The Analyst will also support the dissemination of these outputs to ABC facilitators, mentors, and district-level stakeholders, helping to ensure findings are accessible and can inform area-level decision-making.
- DATA CONFIDENTIALITY AND PROTECTION
The Analyst will maintain the strictest confidentiality on all data collected and related processes, ensuring full compliance with Acted data protection policy and SOPs. He/she will actively take measures to prevent the unauthorized sharing of any information and data belonging to Acted and its partners, or collected during his/her assignment with Acted.
6. FACILITATION
A key component of the joint work with CHC will be to establish and support the facilitation of technical working groups (TWGs) in the 8 pilot districts. The Analyst will be expected to work closely with coordination actors in the ABC to organize and lead regular TWG analysis sessions, including ensuring active participation from a diverse group of stakeholders (local government, community groups, business leaders, NGOs

Requirements:
v Academic: Excellent academic qualifications, preferably including a bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline;
v Research and analysis skills: Proficiency and proven experience with research and analysis, including previous experience conducting qualitative key informant interviews and focus group discussions in Somalia; experience with participatory mapping is an asset.
v External engagement: Experience with external engagement and public speaking, in particular, previous experience of convening and facilitating diverse stakeholder groups and/or joint analysis workshops, is a strong asset.
v Communication/reporting skills: Excellent communication and drafting skills for effective reporting is required;
v Software skills: Proven knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Skills in R, SPSS and/or STATA or other statistical analysis software are an advantage; Experience with dashboards is an asset;
v Multi-tasking skills: Ability to multitask with tight deadlines, on numerous research cycles is required;
v Level of independence: Proven ability to work independently is required;
v Cross-cultural work environment: Ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment is required;
v Language skills: Fluency in English and Somali is required;
v Security environment: Ability to operate in a complex and challenging security environment is required;
v Years of work experience: At least 1 year of relevant working experience is required;
v Experience in humanitarian setting: Experience in humanitarian settings is highly desirable
