ISLAMIC RELIEF WORLDWIDE-SOMALIA: JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Field Monitors  (Somalia National Only) (2 Bardhere, 1 Dinsor)

DEPARTMENT: Program

BASE LOCATION: Bardhere

CONTRACT LENGTH:   15 months

REPORT TO:  CCM team leaders

JOB SUMMARY

Islamic Relief Worldwide, Somalia Programme has been operating in Somalia since 2006 and has responded to conflict and drought-affected people through the provision of life-saving assistance. Through our projects, IR has continuously been providing safe drinking water, improving hygienic sanitation facilities, increasing hygiene awareness, particularly among those living in IDP camps; empowering the urban poor and distressed working children, engaging in conflict management and mitigation, and strengthening community cohesiveness and co-existence.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of Senior Project Officer , the field monitor is responsible for the implementation of field activities, leading field workers, and direct communication with communities served by program. This will include identifying target households, meeting with community leaders and representatives, conducting registration of households for assistance, conducting technical assessments, monitoring the day-to-day work of the project activities, and liaising with households and community members throughout implementation.

The Field monitors team is responsible for IDP hosting site management, local stakeholder, information management, and assisting other IRW field teams with project implementation. This is a field-based position and may require spending extended periods of time in the field.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

·         Participate in community mobilization, and registration processes.

·         Ensure that all activities such as community consultation, beneficiaries selection, and cash transfer are carried out correctly.

·         Participate in community mobilization and registration processes.

·         Ensure that all documents related to the beneficiary’s activities are accurate and complete information to be captured by the registrars

·         Facilitate planning, organizing, and management project related activities.

·         Conduct awareness /sensitization on cash transfer activities among communities and local leaders.

·         Lead the field trips for the teams to register beneficiaries in the target sites and conduct security clearance before team departure and regularly monitor the team performance and safety also.

·         Ensure safe equipment  and resources  usage  and make sure that all equipment and office resources are utilized appropriately

·         Develop work plans (Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly) to ensure effective implementation of the project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan.

·         Facilitate the identification and/or formation and mobilization of local

·         structures such Community Selection Committees and community elders in  the villages and district.

·         Facilitate beneficiary identification in consultation with communities and local leaders using a set of criteria.

·         Participate data collection and assessments of livelihood projects

Skills and qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS 

·         At least Bachelor Degree community development, Social Work, Community Development, ICT, agricultural science, agronomy or related discipline.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • At least 2 years’ field monitoring/ Field level project implementation experience working with local or international NGOs more preferably cash based projects in a similar level is required.
  • Good report writing skills in English and information dissemination is required Strong interpersonal skills with ability to lead a team, communicate with integrity to different stakeholders.
  • Good contextual knowledge of local community and social/cultural constraints, realities and organizational relationships
