 Terms of Reference (ToR)

Job Title: Field Enumerators

Purpose and scope of work:

Horn Partners is seeking qualified enumerators to work along with our multi-disciplinary research teams to undertake different research and fieldwork activities in Somalia.

The position is a short-term contract based on a need-for-work basis and is not a full-time role. Enumerators will support the research and evaluation teams to carry out fieldwork and other research activities (administering questionnaires to communities/households) under the guidance and direct supervision of research officers. This role may require frequent travel to and days to be spent in the field.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The enumerator will be responsible for the following:

  • Assist research officer in collecting data as per the program/project requirements.
  • Seek out respondents who fit the suggested profiles in assigned locations and collect data based on questionnaires developed and supplied by the program.
  • Gather and accurately record responses on questionnaires provided by the research team
  • Ensure that questionnaires have been thoroughly checked and completed.
  • Submit completed questionnaires and other equipment used in fieldwork to the research team
  • Participate in briefings, carry out data collection, data entry and/or reporting.
  • Recognize and give account of problems in obtaining data and provide useful feedback from field research activities

 

Skills and qualifications

The enumerator should have the following experience and qualifications:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Business, Health, Agriculture or Social Sciences;
  • Experience in data collection, administering questionnaires and conducting interviews, data collection and data entry;
  • Experience with local governments, authorities and communities;
  • Willingness to learn and explore new experiences;
  • Fluency in speaking and understanding English and Somali languages.
