Merit is recruiting on behalf of our client, a reputable and growing company operating in the mining industry headquartered in Bosaso. The organization is committed to excellence, sustainability, and contributing to the local economy through responsible mining practices. To support their HR functions, we are seeking a talented and experienced professional for the position of HR Officer.

Position Summary:
The HR Officer will play a key role in managing human resources operations, supporting the development and implementation of HR strategies, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and best practices. This role requires a professional who is organized, people-oriented, and capable of working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day HR operations, including employee records management, attendance, and HR documentation
  • Coordinate recruitment and selection processes to attract and retain top talent
  • Administer onboarding and orientation programs for new employees
  • Support the implementation of HR policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Handle employee relations matters, ensuring timely resolution of grievances and fostering a positive work environment
  • Assist in training and development programs to enhance employee skills and performance
  • Prepare HR reports and maintain accurate HR data and records
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, company policies, and industry regulations
  • Support performance management processes, including appraisals and feedback sessions
  • Collaborate with management to identify HR solutions aligned with business goals

Skills and qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field
  • Professional HR certification (e.g. CIPD, SHRM) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the mining, extractive industries, or industrial sectors
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and HR systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of confidentiality, integrity, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HR information systems
