Job description
POOL DRIVERS (On-Need / Periodic Basis)
The Role
Provide timely and safe driving and courier/liaison support to field team operations as required on a pool/on-need basis. Drive authorized personnel to destinations as instructed, and support day-to-day movement of documents and materials. Maintain strict adherence to safety and convoy procedures.
Major Responsibilities
1) Timely and Quality Support to Operations
- Drive project personnel and other authorized persons to assigned destinations.
- Collect, transport, and deliver documents (and other approved items) to designated locations.
- Ensure punctuality, good time-keeping, and adherence to planned travel schedules.
2) Ensure Safe Working Environment
- Ensure vehicle safety and that required safety/security equipment is always available in the vehicle.
- Alert management immediately of any shortage or absence of safety/security equipment.
- Conduct regular radio checks and strictly follow convoy procedures.
- Comply with all traffic regulations and relevant codes of conduct.
- Monitor the vehicle’s condition and report any malfunctions/repair needs promptly.
- Facilitate vehicle repairs and assist with spare part identification/acquisition when needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and serviceability of the assigned vehicle.
- Monitor the security context and provide updates and advice to field teams.
3) Customer-Focused and Accountable Service
- Provide assistance to administration staff as and when required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle/equipment records.
- Ensure monthly fuel reconciliations for all assigned vehicles (as applicable).
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Other Competencies/Attributes:
- Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills
- Must adhere to set security standards
- Ensure a gender perspective in the scope of work
- Perform other duties as required.

- These positions are on-need/periodic and drivers will be called upon based need.
Skills and qualifications
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
o Educational level required: Secondary education
o Technical Training qualifications required: Valid driving license
o Experience: 3 years of experience in a similar job
o Basic in English and fluent in Somali.

Working Environment:
The position is office-based in Somaliland with regular travel to other field locations.
