educating and empowering the human capital needed to achieve ethical and effective development. The Network
includes three world-class educational institutions that provide high-potential students with critical access,
support, and leadership development: Abaarso School of Science and Technology, Barwaaqo University, and Kaabe
Schools.
Job purpose
Arabic and Islamic Studies Teachers at Kaabe Schools are responsible for the academic, social-emotional, and
character development of our students with an academic focus on Arabic language development and Islamic
Studies. Teachers use a student-centered approach to maximize the development of each individual student.
They are expected to approach their work with professionalism and a true duty of care for the children.
Job duties and responsibilities
● School Culture
o Foster a “Happy Workplace” culture in the classroom and school
o Communicate politely and clearly with students and teammates alike
o Model positive behavior for the children
o Bring energy and focus to team meetings and activities
o Participate in monthly Kaabe Schools Community Events
o Aid in the planning and execution of community events as assigned by the Site Lead or ED/DD
● Academics
o Teach approximately 25 hours per week in a Montessori classroom environment
o Create materials and lesson plans for Arabic language and Islamic Studies learning for grade
levels KG1 to Grade 6.
o Modify teaching to mirror Montessori methods in the Arabic/Islamic Studies classroom
o Observe, plan lessons, deliver lessons, and record progress of individual students in accordance
with the Kaabe Schools Montessori curriculum
o Facilitate classroom “circles” using the Kaabe Schools curriculum
o Prepare student progress reports using Google Drive.
o Meet with parents to discuss student progress at least 2 times in the academic year.
o Collaborate with fellow teachers in planning and implementing lessons and preparing materials.
● Professional Development
o Commit to continually developing as a teacher and person
o Work with the Montessori Teacher Coach, fellow teachers, and administration to improve as a
teacher
o Participate in monthly Thursday Learning Community PD sessions
o Set goals and track progress with the Montessori Teacher Coach and Site Lead
Duties applicable to all staff
1. Actively work towards the achievement of Abaarso Network’s goals
2. Abide by and work in accordance with AN’s Code of Conduct.
3. Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.
