VACANCY – HOT KITCHEN CHEF

We are a professional facility management company focused on providing efficient and effective delivery of support services for an International organization in Puntland, Somalia.

Purpose of the position

The Chef must be creative and proficient in all aspects of food preparation and shall be “the chief” and maintain complete control of the kitchen.

 Typical duties included are but not limited to:

 Duties and Responsibilities 

·         Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities

·  Modify menus or create new ones that meet quality standards

·  Estimate food requirements and food/labor costs

·  Supervise kitchen staff’s activities

·  Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs

·  Recruit and manage kitchen staff

·  Rectify arising problems or complaints

·  Give prepared plates the “final touch”

·  Perform administrative duties

·  Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards

·  Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Skills and qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

·         Proven working experience as a head chef (min. 5 years)

·  Practical experience in different cuisines (continental, oriental and African)

·  Excellent record of kitchen management

·  Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently

·  Capable of delegating multiple tasks

·  Communication and leadership skills

·  Keep up with cooking trends and best practices

·  Will actively be involved in cooking and not “afraid to get their hands dirty”

· Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)

·         Knowledge of pastry will be an added advantage

 Education

 BS degree in culinary science or related certificate
