Position Summary
Pharo Secondary School Sheikh is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Student Affairs Officer to join our Student Life and Discipline Team. This individual will play a key role in shaping student behaviour, supporting student well-being, and fostering a vibrant, structured, and values-driven school environment. This is a highly collaborative and student-centred role that will require deep commitment to student development, dormitory oversight, extracurricular engagement, and communication with families.

Key Responsibilities:
Dormitory Management & Student Discipline
• Supervise dormitories to ensure cleanliness, order, and adherence to routines.
• Enforce punctual wake-up routines and support hygiene, including monitoring bathrooms and laundry areas.
• Implement bed-making and dorm accountability systems.
• Address and record disciplinary matters and promote positive student conduct.
• Ensure proper mealtime supervision in the dining hall and maintain order during meals.
Student Development & Engagement
• Mentor students and support their personal and leadership growth.
• Organise and facilitate student clubs, extracurricular events, and leadership programmes.
• Support student government and parliament initiatives, workshops, and community service activities.
• Monitor attendance during study/prep time, morning classes, and general school hours, and address absences promptly.
Health & Well-being
• Monitor student health conditions in dorms and refer cases to the health team.
• Ensure that all students are attending classes unless excused for health or other valid reasons.
• Support early detection of illness and prompt follow-up with the clinic or dormitory ward.
Record Keeping & Policy Implementation
• Maintain accurate records of behavioural incidents, attendance, and student achievements.
• Manage the school’s Behavioural Management System (BMS), tracking violations, sanctions, and communications with families.
• Contribute to regular review and improvement of the Student Handbook and relevant school policies.
• Maintain logs of parent/guardian communications and submit monthly reports.
Parent & Staff Communication
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student behaviour, progress, and concerns.
• Work closely with teachers and administration to reinforce expectations and resolve disciplinary matters.
• Attend staff and discipline meetings to contribute to strategic planning and student support.
Exam Support
• Assist in the administration of Pearson Edexcel exams: registration, invigilation, and reporting.
• Step in to lead exam processes in the absence of the Exam Officer.
General Duties
• Submit weekly and monthly reports on student affairs, behaviour, and dormitory conditions.
• Support with boarding duties as needed and perform any other responsibilities as assigned by the School Administration.
Skills and qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
• Experience working with adolescents in an educational or residential setting is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to lead student programmes and enforce school policies fairly and consistently.
• High level of integrity, discipline, and professional responsibility.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms)
