Job description

The Inclusive Education(IE) officer is working under the supervision of the Project Manager, based in Somali Region, Fafan Zone, Gursum Wereda with travel to Jigjiga and Dire Dawa.

The main objective of the post is to initiate, insure, coordinate and follow up of all activities related to access to inclusive education to children and youth with disabilities. Including School community, parents and teachers’ capacity building, accessibility work and other related activities stated on the project document

The IE officer will make sure that the activities related to inclusive education are implemented with the required time frame and within available budget, ensuring that HI technical framework is respected; managed the social workers; represent HI by delegation and ensures a smooth relationship with all stakeholders, partners and beneficiaries.GENERAL MISSION:

• Support the planning, implementation, monitoring and partner coordination of the CBR Project in Gursum,

• Contribute to the effective implementation and achieving project objectives,

• Provide technical assistance to school, regional education Bureaus, OPDs etc. in planning, implementation and coordination of the project activities.  

• Planning and implementing capacity building initiatives, 

• Contribute to effective cooperation, and representation of the project with local stakeholders and partners and create sustainable linkages.

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cooperate with local government counter parts, HI implementing partners and other stakeholders to realize the project objective,

• Help ensure the project quality through monitoring and reporting, 

• Actively participate on documenting of the lessons learned, success stories, best practices and implementing events for exchange of program experience,

• Maintain a conducive working relationship with partners, beneficiaries and other stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of the project,

• Ensure proper documentation and efficient use of project’s resources,  

• Support CBR PM in preparing donor reports and other governmental reports as required, 

• In coordination with other team members, carry out regular recording and reporting of activities, field trips and meetings, 

• Compile monthly and project activities reports and submit to PM,

• Coordinate with CBR PM and TA to ensure the project and its activities are in compliance with local laws and regulations, HI standards and donor requirements.

REPRESENTATION:

 Represent HI in the project implementation area with regard to the local stakeholders, including government authorities;

Skills and qualifications

 University Degree in special need education . Minimum 2 years relevant experience in NGO context. Somali language speaker
