Position: Curriculum Development Expert (2 Positions)
Project: Somalia Empowering Women through Education and Skills – “Rajo Kaaba”
Implementing Organization: WARDI Relief and Development Initiative
Funding Partner: Federal Government of Somalia – Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education (World Bank Funds)
Duty Stations: Benadir Region and Hirshabelle State, Somalia
Position Overview:
WARDI Relief and Development Initiative is seeking experienced Curriculum Development Experts for the “Rajo Kaaba” Project. The project aims to empower women and youth in Somalia through education, skills development, and protection services. The Curriculum Development Experts will be based in Benadir Region and Hirshabelle State, respectively.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the development, review, and adaptation of relevant curricula for accelerated basic education (ABE), teacher training, and primary/secondary education in line with national education frameworks.
· Provide technical leadership and guidance in designing learner-centered and gender-responsive curricula and training materials.
· Coordinate with the Ministry of Education, regional education authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with national policies and standards.
· Conduct training and capacity building for teachers, trainers, and education officers on the effective use and rollout of new or revised curricula.
· Monitor and evaluate the implementation and impact of curricula and recommend improvements based on feedback and assessments.
· Prepare timely progress reports, documentation, and knowledge products related to curriculum development activities.
Skills and qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience:
· Master’s degree in education specializing in Curriculum Studies/Development, Teacher Education, or a related field.
· Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in curriculum development and review, preferably in Somalia or similar contexts.
· Proven track record in developing or reviewing accelerated basic education (ABE) programs, teacher training modules, or primary/secondary school curricula.
· In-depth understanding of the education landscape and challenges in Somalia.
· Excellent collaboration and communication skills to engage with government bodies, donors, education experts, and local communities.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Somali.

Duration of the Assignment:
Each appointment will be for the full duration of the project – 2 years – with possible extension subject to funding availability and performance.
