Position title: TSFP/OTP Nurse (4 pst) (2 Hudur and 2 Diinsor)

Reporting to: Nutrition Supervisor

Location: Hudur and Diinsor -SWs -Somalia

Job summary:

The Nutrition Nurse is expected to provide a high standard of promoting optimum health and preventive health care, thereby contributing to a safe, efficient and effective service to patients.The employee will also provide assistance to the doctors and the other medical care team where appropriate, recognizing that theeffective management of hospital depends on effective communication and participation of all members of the team.

Job Responsibilities:

Main duties and Responsibilities:

       Diagnose patients with Severe acute malnutrition with the measurement information provided by the screener.

       Provide nursing care to all Severe acute malnutrition SAM patients with without complication at the OTP department of the health facility.

       Provide calculated number of therapeutic foods RUTF to the admitted patients in the outpatient Therapeutic Program OTP.

       prescribe drugs and other medical items to OTP clients as systematic treatment according to the IMAM guideline.

       Provide nutrition counseling to the malnourished clients to reduce their vulnerability to further diseases and infection.

       Perform appetite test for the OTP patients during the admission process to check whether they have good appetite and willing to eat or not.

       Facilitate referral of the severely malnourished patients with complications to the stabilization center for treatment.

       Decide which beneficiary have successfully fulfilled the discharge criteria and will be discharge as cured from OTP and sent to TSFP program.

       provide on job training to the screeners, community nutrition workers and community volunteers in providing of basic health and nutrition services, health promotion and client follow-up and referrals.

       calculate and request the number of nutrition supplies required for the facility in each day based on the number of beneficiaries expected.

       apply the code of conducts and promote the vision, mission and core values of SOS as expressed in the policies, regulations & guidelines of the Organization.

       Ensure beneficiary satisfaction to the services and provide individual consultation to the beneficiaries with special cases.

       Prepare quality statistical reports of the OTP program case management on weekly and monthly bases and timely share it with the nutrition supervisor.

       Strongly participate in preparation of success stories/human interest stories to showcase the project performance.

       Undertake any other responsibilities/duties that you may be reasonably expected by your line supervisors.

Skills and qualifications

Job competencies:

Essential

      Bachelor’s degree in Nurse, PH or related field

      Minimum 3 years of progressive professional experience in Managements of Immunization, or had work with Health Partner for MCH Projects

      Excellent command in Somali and English

      Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

      Ward Management Skills

      Basic Knowledge and experience Nutrition

      Proactive, result oriented, independent, able to identify and carry out duties with minimum supervision
