The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations that is concerned with international public health. It was established on 7 April 1948, and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The WHO is a member of the United Nations Development Group. Working with 194 Member States, across six regions, and from more than 150 offices, WHO staff are united in a shared commitment to achieve better health for everyone, everywhere. Context
WHO Somalia is seeking a proactive and creative Online Volunteer to support its external relations and resource mobilization efforts. The volunteer will work with the External Relations and Communications team to assist with standard external relations and resource mobilization tasks.

Task description
Under the supervision of the EXR/Comms team, the online volunteer will undertake the following tasks: - Assist in the development of strategies, mapping exercises, and work plans for strategic partnerships with UN agencies and donors. - Draft and edit funding proposals, concept notes, and donor reports. - Research and identify new funding opportunities and develop profiles on potential donors. - Assist in the management of information and knowledge management platforms for external relations
Skills and qualifications
Required experience
Area of education/degree in: Advanced higher degree (Master’s or equivalent) in international relations, economics, business administration, or another related area; a first-level university degree or equivalent in combination with relevant training and/or professional experience may be accepted instead of an advanced university degree. Skills and experience in: At least 1-3 years of relevant professional work experience at national and/or international level in external/donor relations, partnerships, programme/project management, and strategic planning; experience working with senior UN and diplomatic officials as asset, as is experience in the WHO, UN or other international development organizations. Mandatory technical knowledge: • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national person-nel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and of-fice technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.
