                        JOB SUMMARY; The Project officer will lead the implementation of food security, WASH and protection with funding support from Caritas Germany in Jalalqsi and Guriceel districts. The Project Officer (PO) will be responsible for project implementation in his/her project district. The PO will report to Project coordinator (PC). He/she will facilitate WARDI’s project team in managing the essential aspects of the project cycle for assigned projects including planning, implementation and monitoring of the project. Furthermore, He/she will assist the PC regarding regular updates and progress of the project, correspondence with partners on project and strategic interventions.

The officer will lead the beneficiary selection and engagement of community and government representatives. He/she is required to prepare project reports and conduct project monitoring and periodic visits to the villages where the project is implemented. He/she will also represent WARDI in technical coordination meetings at district level and ensure integration and synergy is created with other interventions implemented by WARDI and other organizations. The project officer will functionally report to the project Coordinator and closely collaborate with other managers leading key sectors in WARDI.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support in the management all aspects of the project cycle including planning, implementation and monitoring.
  • Ensure all project documentation and reports produced on time.
  • Coordinate with partner for timely submission of quarterly reports.
  • Work with the project team to review the progress reports, analyze KPIs and timely feedback to the partners.
  • Develop and implement Project’s work plans on annual/six monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Carryout regular field visits to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.
  • Prepare briefing papers/project updates for periodic review meetings.
  • Compile project beneficiary case studies when required.
  • Support PC in new project proposal writings, when required.
  • Work closely with the Finance & Support Services department to help prepare monitoring expenditure
  • Any other task assigned by the PC.

Key External Contacts; Focal points in Hishabelle and Galmudug agriculture,livestock ministries, Clusters and other humanitarian agencies (UN and NGO).

Skills and qualifications

Required qualifications and experiences

  • University degree in Health Science social sciences, Development studies, human rights,rural development.
  • Four years relevant work experience
  • Atleast 4 years progressive experinece in implementing humanitarian programs.
  • Experience in understanding local contexts
  • Experince in project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with state governmet officials and local community stracrures.
  • Ability to work in fluid and everchanging situation and adopt approach accordingly.
  • Fluent in English and Somali
  • Excellent written-spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and work within a team.
