Context

UNFPA Somalia is supporting the pre-census activities to improve demographic data availability for policy and planning. To enhance real-time monitoring, spatial analysis, and communication of data insights, UNFPA Somalia is engaging online volunteers with technical expertise in key data areas.

Task description

Preparation of data for analysis which includes -data editing, splitting, merging, cleaning, imputation and restructuring. Development of associated syntax for in SPSS or Stata for reproducibility . Transfer of skills to the national technical staff involved in the project. Preparation of the tabulation plan for the socio-demographic survey based on the questionnaire and the project document, Generation and validation of tables with the guidance of the UNFPA demographer. Development of associated syntax for in SPSS or Stata for reproducibility .

Skills and qualifications

Required experience

Bachelor’s degree or ongoing studies in population studies/demography, statistics, computer science, economics, data science or any other relevant field. Required Skills and Experience: - Relevant experience aligned with the role’s responsibilities. - Proficiency in statistical data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Stata, SAS, R, Python). - Experience in online collaboration and development context is an asset.

Languages

English, Level: Fluent, Required Somali, Level: Native language, Desirable
