Mid Term Evaluation

Project background

The Somaliland Youth Development and Voluntary Organization (SOYDAVO) is a local non-governmental, non-profit making organization headquartered Burao with satellite offices in Sool, Sanaag and Maroodijeex regions in Somaliland.

SOYDAVO empowers communities to identify developmental challenges they face and to take the lead to address them. SOYDAVO works with Somaliland government, UN and other International NGOs to contribute to Somaliland’s short- and long-term developmental priorities. SOYDAVO focuses on education for vulnerable groups, livelihoods, child protection, women rights, peace building and conflict resolution and WASH projects. The main target groups are vulnerable youth, women and children from disadvantaged areas such as IDP camps.

SOYDAVO with funding support from Tearfund Deutschland (TFDE) is implementing Sustainable food security and income generation, as well as local cooperative structure project in Baligubadle and and Salahley in the Hawd region of Somaliland.

Skills and qualifications

  • University degree in Agriculture, community development, or another relevant field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the use of participatory evaluation methodologies Excellent knowledge and understanding of skills development, culture and arts related projects;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Practical experience in the use of M&E tools, gender analysis and communication
  • Practical experience in the use of story/testimony collection and analyzing methodologies such as most significant change etc.
  • Practical experience in the use of participatory methodologies in project implementation
  • Practical experience in both qualitative and quantitative research
  • Experience in developing/analyzing communicational strategies for community-based development projects
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, knowledge of Somali is an asset.
  • Good understanding of the society, culture and behaviors of the Somali communities in both urban and rural settings
