TOR – Female Internship Programme

The Information Management Centre (IMC) of Somaliland is established in 2019 to offer land and water resources data to assist in informed decision making by the government and other stakeholders. The IMC receives financial and technical support from European Union and FAO SWALIM respectively.

The IMC announces an internship programme that aims to empower young women within water and land resources sector gain skills to enhance their confidence and help them build their careers.

The selected interns will have opportunity to work with experienced and skilled IMC, affiliated government ministries and SWALIM/FAO staff for a minimum of six months.

Skills and qualifications

The female interns will be recruited competitively based on the following criteria:

§  Must be female Somalilanders

§  Must have graduated recently, not earlier than 2018

§  Preferably not be above 30 years of age

§  Be graduates of any of the following thematic subjects:

ü  Geographic Information Systems/Remote Sensing

ü  Information management

ü  Land resources management

ü  Water resources management, or

ü  Any other subjects related to environmental & natural resources studies

§  Working knowledge of English language, and mother tongue Somali language  

§  Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism

§  Willing to accomplish the programme for the entire period (six months minimum)

§  Willing to work in the field for data collection and surveys

§  Willing to return and serve within Somaliland land & water resources institutions
