Internship Positions – SOYDAVO
Organization:
Somaliland Youth Development and Voluntary Organization (SOYDAVO)
Duty Stations:
- Hargeisa Office – 2 Interns
- Burao Office – 2 Interns
- Erigavo Office – 2 Interns
Duration:
3–6 months (with possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs)
1. Background
Somaliland Youth Development and Voluntary Organization (SOYDAVO) is a local non-governmental organization committed to empowering youth, promoting social development, protection, accountability, and community resilience across Somaliland. As part of its commitment to youth development and capacity building, SOYDAVO offers internship opportunities for young graduates to gain practical work experience in a professional NGO environment.
2. Objectives of the Internship
The internship programme aims to:
- Provide young people with practical skills and hands-on experience in NGO operations
- Strengthen interns’ understanding of community development, protection, and humanitarian work
- Support SOYDAVO’s programmes at field and office levels
- Build a pool of skilled youth with experience in development and humanitarian programming
3. Roles and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the respective Office Coordinator or Programme Officer, interns will support the following activities:
Programme Support
- Assist in the implementation of ongoing projects and activities
- Support community mobilization, outreach, and awareness activities
- Assist in data collection, registration, documentation, and basic reporting
- Support monitoring and follow-up of project activities
Learning & Professional Development
- Participate in internal meetings, trainings, and learning sessions
- Adhere to SOYDAVO policies, including safeguarding, code of conduct, and confidentiality
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the supervisor relevant to learning objectives
Skills and qualifications
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Graduate in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, Education, Business Administration, IT, or related fields
- Strong interest in community development, youth empowerment, protection, or humanitarian work
- Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, email)
- Good communication skills in English
- Willingness to learn, good teamwork, and positive attitude
- Ability to work in a multicultural and community-based environment
5. Supervision and Reporting
Interns will report directly to the Office Coordinator or assigned Supervisor in Hargeisa, Burao, or Erigavo. Regular feedback and mentoring will be provided throughout the internship period.
