TOR For Collecting and Refining of Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage
SOYDAVO is a local non-governmental organization (LNGO) with its headquarters in Burao, Somaliland, and regional sub-offices in Hargeisa and Erigavo. SOYDAVO is engaged in multi-sector activities: education for vulnerable groups, economic development and livelihood support, protection of child and women’s rights, peacebuilding and reconciliation, psychosocial recovery and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activities and culture and peace promotion. SOYDAVO's activities support the collection of relevant cultural material and immaterial heritage in Togdheer but benefit the Somaliland population and facilitate the creation of artistic talent shows calling for the active participation of various communities in Somaliland and the preservation of tangible and tangible cultural goods and services. Other activities include cultural training on cultural dances, painting, singing and poems, rehabilitation, identification and recording of material and immaterial cultural items, and using recorded cultural items (songs and poems) to promote peace and cohesion in Somaliland.
SOYDAVO intends to implement a project in the Eastern region of Somaliland, Togdheer, and Sanaag regions. The project seeks to address three key gaps in the tangible and intangible creative cultural goods: (i) the continuous loss of culture among the young generation due to the lack of skills, knowledge and sharing limitations, (ii) rural-urban migration leads to loss of creative and cultural goods and services, and (iii) the fear of losing artefacts due to the lack of refining and recording. To address this, SOYDAVO intends to undertake a raft of activities mainly: (i) Capacity Building to the Youth on Cultural Preservation and Mentorship, (ii)Collection and Refining Tangible and Intangible Culture and (iii)Collection of tangible artefacts from rural areas and place them in museums to protect from loss.

The overall outcome of this project is that the action will lead the community and target beneficiaries to share intangible and tangible cultural goods and services, store them for future use and posterity and access to markets in East Africa and the greater Horn of Africa.
Scope of work for Collection and Refining of Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage
Time Frame: This assignment is for a consultant based in Burao, and Erigavo districts of Somaliland and is for a period of 6 months between June - Dec 2023.

Financial Proposal:
The financial proposal shall specify a total lump sum amount (including a breakdown of costs for fee, and number of working days). Payments will be made in installments based upon key outputs, i.e. upon delivery of the services specified in the TOR.
