Job Summary
The Zone Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations, performance, and strategic direction in Wajale. This role involves driving sales growth, managing staff, and ensuring that company standards are met while fostering a positive and productive work environment.Zone manager closely works with other departmental managers to meet zone’s requirements.
1. Strategic Leadership
Zone Manager plays a critical role in overseeing operations and driving growth within Awdal Region. Develop and implement regional business strategies to meet organizational goals. Analyze market trends and adjust strategies accordingly.
2. Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the zone, ensuring efficiency and compliance with company policies.
- Monitor and improve operational performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Streamline processes to enhance productivity and service delivery.
3. Financial Oversight
- Develop and prepare annual budget based on organizational goals and priorities. Prepare and manage regional budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Collaborate with department heads to gather input and forecast expenses and revenues.
- Analyze financial reports and identify areas for cost reduction and revenue enhancement.
- Oversee regional budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure profitability across Zone’s sub districts.
- Track actual spending against the budget, identifying variances and areas for improvement.
- Conduct regular financial analyses to assess the Bluekom’s financial health
- Implement cost-saving measures and strategies to stay within budget limits.
- Review expenses regularly to identify unnecessary costs and areas for potential savings.
- Adjust budgets as necessary to reflect changes in business operations or external factors.
- Prepare and present budget reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Communicate financial performance and trends to Bluekom’s relevant departments.
- Facilitate cross-departmental discussions to align budgetary goals with organizational objectives.
- Assist in internal and external audits related to billing and accounts receivable.
4. Sales and Marketing
- Drive sales initiatives to achieve revenue targets and increase market share.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to develop and execute promotional strategies. Lead branch managers and other commercial team towards achieving zone’s revenue and customer satisfactions
- Develop evaluation criteria in existing business/clients in his/her zone and establish appropriate business relations to retain revenue from the current customers and to up sell new services.
- Formulate new approaches to increase the revenue from his/her zone to ensure long term business operations
- Communicate revenue targets to subordinates on daily and weekly basis
- Monitoring revenue targets across branches to compare that revenue targets are met at zone level
- Organize commercial meetings within the zone to discuss about the business and identify new business opportunities.
- Inform commercial team at zone level new product/service releases and deliver appropriate training requirements.
- Perform zone market research to get insightful customer information and to determine competitor activity at zone level.
- Train commercial team at zone level to be the brand ambassadors within the zone to increase good perception of the customer’s perspective.
- Create Key Performance indicators at zone level and track KPIs on a daily basis.
- Travel within the zone to determine best go to market business strategy.
- Train and onboard new zone staff, ensure that employees serve as per the company’s policies.
- Address subscriber’s issues and complaints in an accurate and timely manner.
- Develop, record and update corporate, SME, Household customer list at zone level.
- Identify company’s bottlenecks and provide appropriate recommendations to the concerned departments i.e. Finance, Operations and finance.
- Manage the billing cycle, including invoice generation, payment processing, and account reconciliations.
- Supervise and mentor the billing team, providing training and support to ensure high performance.
- Set team goals and monitor progress, conducting regular performance evaluations.
- Serve as the point of contact for billing inquiries and disputes, resolving issues promptly and effectively.
- Communicate billing-related information to clients and stakeholders as needed.
- Oversee billing software and systems, ensuring they are maintained and updated as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners.
- Negotiate terms and conditions of contracts with clients and suppliers.
- Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding payments, and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Identify and implement improvements to billing processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Generate and issue accurate invoices to clients based on contractual agreements and service delivery.
- Address customer inquiries regarding billing and payment issues, providing exceptional service and support.
- Represent the company at regional events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
- Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and customer preferences.
- Utilize insights to adjust commercial strategies and improve competitiveness
5. Team Leadership
- Provide guidance, support, and training to team members to enhance their skills and career development.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to encourage growth.
- Establish clear, achievable goals and objectives for the team aligned with organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with team members to create strategies for meeting goals and improving performance.
- Act as the main point of contact between team members and upper management, ensuring information flows effectively.
- Foster an open environment where team members feel comfortable sharing ideas and concerns.
- Identify and resolve conflicts within the team promptly and fairly to maintain a positive work environment.
- Plan, execute, and monitor team projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

- Recruit, train, and mentor management teams within the region.
7. Reporting and Communication
- Provide regular updates to upper management on regional performance, challenges, and opportunities.
- Provide regular updates to senior management regarding billing operations and financial performance.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual billing reports for management review.
- Facilitate communication between regional teams and corporate offices.
8. Collaboration
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., Marketing, HR, Finance, Operations) to achieve regional goals.
- Collaborate with peers in other regions to share best practices and resources.
Skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Proven experience in a managerial role, preferably in the Telecom sector.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiarity with relevant software/tools.
